You would only know that information by reading forums such as this one. Unfortunately CIC is completely dysfunctional when it comes to how they display this type of info on their website. The outland processing times they post are essentially useless.

Yes it makes lots of sense for you to cancel your inland app and apply outland instead. Especially if you're currently outside Canada or intend to spend time outside Canada during the next 2 years, you may find your inland app being rejected due to this anyways.
Thanks for the info. Any advice on how I get the application back if I haven't heard a thing from them? No clue if it's even in the system yet!

If you file inland and are denied, you cannot appeal. With Outland, you can. And as everyone said, it's much faster.

You probably won't get anything back. You would inform CIC you want to cancel the app, and they will just dispose of it. If they return any original documents you had sent, you would consider yourself lucky.

You'll then need to do a brand new outland app from scratch.

That's gonna be a hard one to swallow. So much effort and time for them to dispose of it. I'm really considering withdrawing, I read that you can get a refund if they haven't started the process. I haven't received any acknowledgement yet so fingers crossed they haven't started it. Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it.
