Seniors and all fellow applicants, I will be landing soon. From the posts, I know that it takes a while to receive health cards. Are there any suggestions on what are preferred choices? Thanks in advance.

You can take any health insurance valid for 3 months.
Each province is having Medical Services Plan, and you will need to enroll for this once you reach in Canada. You will receive the Medical Card which will be valid starting from 3rd month of your entry. Please note that it is not 90 days calculation, they calculate based on months.

For e.g, If you land on 1st of November, or 30th of November you will receive the card valid from February 1st onwards.
With this card, you can consult any doctor, but please note that the other medical expenses will not be covered. Only consultation fees will be covered. You will need to take an extended health care later on to cover those expenses (normally if you are getting any permanent job, the company will provide extended health care).

I took HDFC ERGO. To be honest, I didn't do much investigation on other insurances. It's travel insurance and will cover emergency medical expenses.

As per Ibyt, please check the medical services plan of your intended landing province. The one which I explained is for British Columbia.

depends on the province you are landing. Ontario has 90 day period after which you are covered by OHIP.
