Greetings...
When I moved to Canada few years back, I rented a furnished apartment for the first 10 days. I paid cash and have no record or lease. I know the address but not the apartment number, so I put N/A in the apartment number field. My question, is this enough or do I have to explain or mention anything about it in my application.?

Hello, the same has happened to me. So I contacted the broker (went through my emails) told them about the situation and which building I stayed in and I happened to remember the floor and after the second reminder, they sent my the apt. #.

I am not sure whether I will be asked to bring the old lease with me to the test interview. I hope not as the details in it are not correct

I tried searching my emails for some contact info but I wasn't able to find anything, I must have deleted it.
Going back to my question, should I mention anything about it in a cover letter or not ?

I don't think you need to mention this 10-day apartment. You can go straight to your more permanent one.

Imagine you stayed with your grandma in her place for one week, would you indicate this as your address? I would not.

If you are worried about showing a blank entry during the period in the app form, there are 2 ways:
1. show the address you remember and in the apartment#, leave it blank and give a note in the covering letter that you don't remember it for the 10 days when you landed.
2. try driving to that address and se if you can recollect the apartment# by any chance looking at the floor and building. This will not be easy as you have to gain entry into the building first...anyways, worth giving a try.
Anyways, for a 10 day period, these will not be a big issue....just my thoughts.
