Hi everyone...

I'm a Canadian citizen who's about to sponsor my Indonesian wife.

We would like to submit our application as soon as possible, to CPC-M. We're choosing to do it outland through Singapore.

I've been in Indonesia since the end of September 2012. I am scheduled to return to Canada at the end of January 2013, which means I will have been in Indonesia for about 4 months. I came here with a tourist visa...

As you all know, Canada would like to be given assurance that the sponsor will eventually reside in Canada once the sponsored person receives her PR.
If I wanted to, I could submit the sponsorship application once I am back in Canada, which means that I will be able to include my boarding pass (of my return to Canada) as a proof that I got back to Canada. (Note: when submitting the application, I will be showing my return ticket to Canada, but somehow I feel that it's not a strong enough proof, which is why I'd like to show them my boarding pass, which I think is a lot stronger proof that I got back to Canada.)

However, there's a good chance that we will have finished the application in mid-December 2012....so if we could send the application that early (from Indonesia to CPC-M), why would we wait till end of Jan 2013.....right?! (My motto is: the sooner the better ;D )

If we ended up submitting the application in mid-December 2012:

- Would it be a good idea to send them my boarding pass (so more or less it's going to be a "document to follow"), once I am back in Canada at end of Jan 2013, to prove that I got back to Canada?

- Considering that I am the sponsor, is it better to send the boarding pass to CPC-M or to the Singapore visa office?

- If I sent the application to CPC-M in mid-December 2012, somehow I doubt that by end of January 2013 I will have obtained the application number/UCI (because it takes 2 to 3 months for it to be released right? Which means it won't be until mid-Feb or mid-March that I will get it).

So, without an application number/UCI, what could we use as a reference for our application then, when sending my boarding pass...? I assume we just have to mention our names and address? Is it enough...?

Thanks a lot...!

Since you are a Citizen it doesn't matter how long you have been out of the country, and 4 months isn't even enough time to consider you a temporary resident (6 month minimum), you just had an extended visit with your wife. I would only include the plane ticket to and return as proof of your relationship since you are technically visiting. you have a Canadian address correct? and even if you do submit the application mid-December you will already be back in Canada before they start to process it. Include a letter that states you have been visiting your wife and are returning in Jan. I really doubt you will have any problems. Anyway to the question you asked it is strongly suggested that you wait and receive the UCI/Application number, I believe a copy of the plane ticket itself would be efficient because no one likes to waste money and plane tickets arn't cheap! Good Luck!

Hi creampop!

Good to know that showing my ticket should suffice...! I wasn't so sure since I thought 4 months was long, but apparently it's stilll considered as a visit as opppposed to a stay eh...
(This sponsorship thing makes me really nervous!)

If I were to send my boarding pass anyway, should I send to CPC-M or to the Singapore visa office?

Once you get your sponsorship letter it will tell you to send any other documents to your VO, so if you choose to send in the boarding pass then it would go to Singapore. Believe me I know how nervous this whole process gets the sponsors have it easy it's us applicants who get the inside out inspection LOL Good Luck!

You would have to send it to the Singapore visa office. It would just get lost if sent to Mississauga. Wait until you get a file number, then write your and the applicant's names and dates of birth, and the file number, on a letter explaining that you are sending some extra evidence, and send it to Singapore.

You don't need it. By the time you get the file number, you would have been approved. The boarding pass is only a proof of sponsor being in Canada. That information is not needed in the second stage. Just save it only if this exact proof is requested. I prefer to go quality than quantity and don't send anything irrelevant.
