Dear All,

I applied under FSW category with my spouse in January 2009 and sent our application to Nova Scotia, Canada. In March 2009 we were asked to submit additional documents to regional immigration center Buffalo through a letter containing our File# and information about how to inform them about change of address and change in family composition.

In July 2009, we were blessed with a son and I notified them about change of family composition using the form they sent us earlier in March. I faxed this information to them. In December 2009, I received medicals request from buffalo office only for me and my wife which means probably my fax didn't reach them. After receiving this letter, I sent them another email notifying them again about birth of my son but still no reply.

Now I am wondering what should I do next? I have following questions.

1. Should I send an amended application to buffalo office again along with processing fee of $150 Canadian for my child or I should wait for their reply first?

2. If I send them amended application, what forms do I need to send them again?

3. Would it restart my case from the scratch?

4. Should I send the amended application with my Child information and also go for medicals for me and my wife and for our US FBI background checks?

Any information in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Ali.

I think you should have send the following that is required for your baby:
1. birth certificate
2. 4 passport size photo
3. processing fee
You and your spouse must complete new forms after birth of the child as per change in family composition.
Other elders in the forum can comment further.

Hi, we are also expecting a newborn after our medical exams. Me and my wife are expecting to have our first child this coming February 2010. When we completed our medical exam last September 2009, I wrote to the local Visa Office informing them that my wife is pregnant and that we are expecting our first child in Feb 2010. Last November 2009, I received a phone call from the local Visa Office asking me whether we would prefer to land in Canada before or after my wife gives birth. I decided to make the the landing after my wife gives birth. The local Visa office just advised me that after my wife gives birth, I should inform them of it and they will send a request for additional documents for the additional dependent. Right now, our application is still on hold pending on the birth of our child.

Hi sammy09

I have a question, what birth certificate will you submit to the visa office? certified by the NSO or the one certified by the city hall? I've heard from others that it would take an average of 5 months before you can get the NSO birth certificate. Thanks.
We're applying under FSW.

@ sammy09

I have read in another forum that for faster processing, you need to request to the local civil registrar an advance endorsement to the NSO. After NSO receives the request from the local civil registrar, it would take about 10 days to get the NSO birth certificate.

I'll be trying to do this process after my wife gives birth.

Hi again, i have an additional question, in the letter sent by the visa office to you, did they asked you to submit an updated proof of funds to reflect the new amount of required funds for your family & the additional dependent (your newborn)?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies.

I have already sent them following documents.

1. Notarized copy of my baby's birth certificate.
2. Notarized copy of baby's passport.
3. 4 photographs.
4. Updated Form IMM5406 (Additional Family Information) for me and my wife including my baby's info.
5. Updated Page 2 of Form IMM0008 (Application for Permanent Residence in Canada) for me including my baby's info.
6. Form IMM5620 (Fee Payment Form - Application for Permanent Residence Federal Skilled Worker Class) including processing fee of Canadian $150 for my son.

(Note: I have sent all these forms to Buffalo, USA office; however initially I have sent my application to Nova Scotia, Canada then after initial assessment it was transferred to Buffalo, so would it be OK that now I have sent all the documents to Buffalo including the
processing fee?)

I have one more question. As someone mentioned about the birth certificate certified by NSO or city hall. Can you please describe whats the difference between the two types and which one we usually get in USA? I have got it's copy certified by public notary and then sent to Canadian consulate general Buffalo. Would it work?

Thanks a lot.

Ali.
