Accommodation/boarding arrangements for Student Visa

My sister is a permanent resident of Canada and I plan to stay at her own place during the period of my studies, questions I have are:
1. Do we have to prove that we have arranged accommodation before hand via university?
2. If not, should I just avoid mentioning the letter my sister has provided to better my chances for student visa?

If you are applying under SPP , it is mandiatory that you have to submit GIC ( $10000) to support your living expenses .

It doesn't matters whom you gonna stay with and you didn't need to sumit any additional documents unless you got any additional document request .

Ok RDX ,but I am applying as a Masters student at University of Toronto. Is the GIC still mandatory?

N0 , GIC is not a madiatory in uni. category .

But , you should attach financial documents which can cover up your 6 month fee + 1 year living ( $10000 ) + your air ticket

If your funds ( bank statmnt / loan / fd / gic ) are enough to cover these expenses then you don't need to show anything else .
