Academic Transcripst Information - WES

Hello everybody,

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, I searched but could find nothing related to this.

I want to know what it should be the important information that an Academic Transcript should have because my Faculty provided very basic ones and I'm worried WES would ask for more information. Ask for documents in my University is a very long process and to send documents from the other corner of the continent is going to take extra time and money that I don't have. I just want to ask for anything that is needed now.

So, according to the WES, an Academic transcript is "A document that lists all subjects taken and grades earned for each year of study". My document is basically a list of subjects, grades and the year ordered by the name of the subject. There are no averages by year (which I understand could be the grades for each year) or total score (for the whole career), no academic hours, no dissertation mark, etc. I have seen very detailed transcripts from other Universities, so I believe I might have problems with this document.

What is the WES looking for in a transcript? Have someone been rejected for lack of information or asked to provide more information?

Thank you for your help.

Answers to Your Indian Credential Evaluation Questions
Thursday | February 21, 2019 | by Justine D’Souza

The credential evaluation process represents an important part of your transition from your home country to the United States or Canada. To ensure that your credential evaluation report is processed as smoothly as possible, closely follow WES’ application instructions and document requirements. In this blog post, you will discover the answers to frequently asked questions regarding how WES evaluates Indian degrees.

The following questions and answers predominantly apply to Indian students. If you have questions about your own country of education, please review our Required Documents page for the most up-to-date information about our requirements.

WES Credential Evaluation Criteria for Indian Students
Does WES evaluate my college or university?

WES has evaluated documents for thousands of individuals educated in India. If you attended a duly authorized and recognized institution, it is likely that WES can evaluate your documents.

I completed a research-based program that did not issue a transcript. Can I still get an evaluation?

Yes, WES can evaluate research-based programs.

Document Requirements
Do I need to send transcripts or mark sheets?

WES accepts both consolidated transcripts and yearly mark sheets provided they are issued and sent by degree-granting institutions.

I have a master’s degree. Do I need to send my bachelor’s degree as well?

The following criteria will help you determine if you need to send your bachelor’s degree documents:

  • The only credentials for which your bachelor’s degree documents are NOTrequired are the Master of Education, Master of Engineering, Master of Philosophy, and Master of Technology degrees.
  • If your master’s degree was obtained from an Indian institution, and does not fall into the categories listed above, you MUST also submit your bachelor’s degree documents. WES cannot evaluate the master’s degree without the bachelor’s degree.
If your master’s degree was obtained outside of India, your bachelor’s degree is generally not required. Our evaluators will contact you if they require further documentation for your evaluation.

Verification
Sometimes our evaluators review your documents and determine that they have further questions. WES reserves the right to verify all documents submitted for evaluation. WES will contact your institution or other authorized source to authenticate your documents. Once a response is received, WES will proceed with your evaluation. Keep reading for the answers to frequently asked questions on this topic:

My school has not received your email for secondary verification (VDR). What email address did you send it to and what can I do?

WES sends documents for secondary verification to the appropriate designated official at each institution. Your intervention is generally not required or necessary in this transaction.

Why does WES verify documents?

We are committed to preparing evaluations based on documents that are accurate and valid. Because of our rigorous authentication practices, WES credential evaluation reports are widely accepted among many academic institutions, licensing bodies, and immigration authorities.

New Document Requirements
WES updated its document requirements for India on December 1, 2018. For orders (including new applications and upgrades) submitted on or after December 1, WES only accepts documents mailed directly by the appropriate institution in a sealed envelope, following the format stated on our website. WES will not accept documents sent by students, third party agents, or anyone else.

If your WES reference number was issued on or after December 1, 2018, the new policy applies to your documents. Below are the answers to some common document requirement questions:

What are my options if my institution will not send my documents directly to WES?

Please contact your institution. WES only accepts documents in sealed envelopes that are mailed directly by the institutions (universities or autonomous colleges) themselves.

My institution will not submit documents directly to WES, but I have an attested copy in a sealed envelope. Can I submit the documents myself?

No. WES only accepts documents in sealed envelopes that are mailed directly by the institutions themselves.

Will the new requirements impact my current account?

If your WES reference number was issued after December 1, 2018, the new policy applies to you. If your WES reference number was issued before December 1, 2018, the new policy does not apply. For more information, please visit our Help Center.
