Why is adademic IELTS not accepted in CIC ? Why make applicant who has great band score in academic IELTS which is more difficult, take general IELTS which is easier over again. I cannot understand this type of reasoning from CIC. People have taken academic IELTS, passed it with great band score, why not accept the academic if it is from same testing institution. It seems ridiculous to me. Anybody know why, please explain!

If one can get good band score in Academic IELTS then why not in GT ? Take GT, and score much more.

AT is for further study, and immigrants are not bound to have further study, so to make them it easy they ask GT. AT and GT are different so we can not generalised that AT is superior to GT and if one can score good in AT then that does not necessary imply that he/she can score same(or more) in GT. Just my thought.

Shreshta.

I think the academic test is specifically setup to be harder in two of the section and equal in the other two. That is the way the IELTS testing body set it up, that is why people are calling AT superior or harder. If one does well in AT, then they should (in theory) do the same or better in GT. But for those taking AT because they want to study further, it is an economic cost to do GT as well.
