Hi Stulove

Yes, they are really slow. I have seen applicants who have been in process since July 2015 with no medical request yet.

Hi Stylove & Hanzmolar,

How are you doing ? I hope we will be having some good news soon.
Well, my Agent said that it takes really 6 to 8 months for the Medical. I hope it will be within the 8 months.

My ECAS shows the 3rd line since March 14, 2016 ( Processing)

HI Mgazi

Is it 8 months since the file submition or since they started processing the file? My lawyer is Cohen, is it the same in your case because he mentioned the same?

Wow Hamzolar and mgazi good to know you both are using lawyers....I'm a self applicant lol hope all works in our favor within 8months of filing the application as per the norm. My last line was also in March. Praying

Hello Hanzmolar & Stylove

Yes it is David's Cohen Firm for me too.
it will be 6 to 8 months from the AOR date

Stylove, it is really an interesting experience running the immigration by self. it require dedication, time and patience :)

YEAH of course it hasn't been that easy but we have to keep our heads high and hope for the best. 8)

So I finally landed in Montreal (June 21st).

After presenting my passport and my immigration papers to the border officer they directed me to a room where my case can be handled.
Since it was a late arrival (landed at 10.30 pm), I was the only person there.

The immigration officer was very nice, and polite. It helped that I had all my documents in order, especially for goods brought in and goods to follow.
The whole immigration process took about 30 minutes.

After getting a good night's sleep I then proceeded to complete the rest of the formalities, opening a bank account, getting a SIN and registering for health insurance.

Since I was staying in downtown Montreal all the offices were close by within walking distance.

Getting a SIN was easy, just go to the Service Canada office, present them with you papers, they will take down some details and print out your SIN. Make sure to get this first.

The next step is to get the health insurance, which requires the SIN. You will need your passport, confirmation of PR, as well as your CSQ. You will be asked to sign a legal document stating that you intend to stay in Quebec.

You can give them a temporary address however make sure to update them once you find a permanent one.

Good luck to everyone else.
