I reached out to someone working in the embassy and he confirmed that we don't need a transit visa unless the layover is more that 24 hours.
You only need to show your Canadian visa and that's it, So we are good to go.

Never lose hope. Since you are getting these emails, it means that they are working on your application, sooner or later you will hear from them. And remember, the longer it takes the more chances you have for approval. Rejections don't take long times usually.

according to VFS It takes maximum 2 working days for it to be ready after this status, mine was ready next day in the morning. I think it will be ready on Sunday, call them Sunday morning and ask them. they will probably call you anyway the same time.. Congarts

You can't apply through the consulate.
Your only option is to apply online: http://www.cic.gc.ca
Or through VFS: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/UAE/

I applied from VFS Islamabad on the 29th of September with an upfront medical for the Winter session. Visa applications from Pakistan are processed in the Abu Dhabi embassy these days.

It's been 53 days now, and there has been no update from the embassy other than ''Medicalassed''. I linked my account online though. Is the delay in my application a good sign?

Nervous days these days for me, because many applicants from Pakistan are getting their approvals in 35-45 days !!

Nervous days these days for me, because many applicants from Pakistan are getting their approvals in 35-45 days !!

Delay is definitely a good sign, most rejections (based on what I've read) are released within 4-6 weeks, there is no strict rule about that of course, but we are talking in general.
The standard processing time for Pakistan according to CIC is 9 weeks, so you are still within that time frame and good to go.

Unfortunately not, not until now at least. I asked VFS and they told me to call them if I don't get it by tomorrow.
I just checked my CIC account and although is says that the application is approved, there is no introduction letter...
