I'm waiting on my Police certificate to arrive still, and it's the last piece I need to file my Inland PR application.
I've been waiting and waiting for this thing to come, and my Temporary Residence expires May 30th.
Am I still able to apply for PR after my temp expires at the end of the month?
Is there a window like 90 day to apply at all, or do I HAVE to leave as my extension paper says?
Really stressing out about all this.
Help :C

what type of sponsorship are you applying for to get PR? I believe with an inland application, it's not necessary to send in the police certificate upfront. Also, are you including an open work permit with your application? If so, i believe once it's received you will have implied status until you hear about stage 1 approval.

Hopefully a senior member will be able to tell you for sure. My other question would be why you have chosen to apply inland rather than outland seeing how outland is generally shorter for most visa offices?

rhcohen2014 beat me to it, but it's exactly what I would have suggested anyway. ;)

Good luck!

I'm applying for the family class/Common law PR, and I've been living in Canada as a temporary resident with no work permit for the last year.
So I can just send the packet without the police certificate, and just supply it later when it comes? Should I put some sort of note in there?

where are you from? because even though you apply outland, it doesn't mean you can't be in canada while the application is in process. depending on where you are from, you can get full pr status in the same amount of time as stage 1 approval. so for a lot of people, it makes sense to apply outland, remain in canada as a visitor and apply for an extension to get you through the process. have you been illegally working while being there withouth a work permit, or have you just been "visiting" to get commonlaw status?

I would sugest going to the family sponsorship thread and asking the inland threads about when it's necessary to send the police record. it may not be until they request it. i'm not sure just sending it in would do you any good, considering you will not have any reference of file number or UCI until you have AIP, which is at least 8 months away.

Yes, but be sure to include a note telling CIC that the PCC has been ordered and that you will forward it to them when you receive it. This way, they know that you didn't just omit it altogether.

If you also include an Open Work Permit (OWP) application with your Inland sponsorship application, you will have implied status and will not need to leave Canada. If you do this, make sure to write (in bold letters across the top of the OWP): OWP SUBMITTED WITH IN-CANADA SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION, PROCESS AFTER AIP

If you don't do this, there's a chance that the OWP will be processed right away, but would be denied. As rhcohen2014 mentioned, you become eligible for the OWP once your spousal sponsorship application reaches first stage approve, known as AIP- Approval In Principle.

Good to know, do you have a link where I can print off the OWP and get it filed.
It just needs to be in the same envelope as my paperwork right? And I could just send it off today with a note saying I have requested my PCC, and will forward it when It arrives?
What is the additional fee for applying for a OWP?

Have you considered filing Outland as rhcohen2014 has suggested?

The fee for the OWP is $155, and the form that you need is IMM5710 (available on CIC's website).

Prior to Jan 17, 2014 Inland applications and OWP were sent to the same place (Vegreville, Alberta) but now that Inland applications are sent to Mississauga, Ontario. You can still send everything all together and they will route it internally back to Alberta...hopefully!

I think that's what I'm confused about.
If I file for outland, I wouldn't be able to stay in Canada past the 30th would I?
I've already extended my stay in Canada, and the Temporary Residence extension said I couldn't file another one and have to be out by the 30th?

i think you would first need to change your status to visitor, then later on apply for an extension, letting them know you have an application submitted. TRP and visitor visas are completely different.

depending where you are from, you can always go home for a short visit, then go back to canada as a "visitor", showing your ties to your home country, and then later apply for an extension to stay during the applicaiton process.

again, it will be helpful to know where you are from, so we can give you our best advice! visa exempt vs. not visa exempt is important to know.

Man my bad, I'm from the US.
I feel I'm sort of at the point, where I need to send what I have and hope for the best. Or leave Canada and try again in a couple years now that I know the process.
It's getting down to the wire, and we already have the $1000~ set aside for the paperwork, I think stacking another fee on top would ruin us.
I think Base line, from where I'm sitting I'm wondering If I would be safe to send what I have today, pay my fees and include a note saying I will forward the PCC when it arrives. If the paperwork is received before the date I'm suppose to leave I'm safe to stay correct?

Since you have posted the same questions, basically, on a few different threads, I now know that you are an American from one of those.

Why did you apply for a TRP? Are you otherwise inadmissible to Canada?

If you are otherwise inadmissible but have a reason to travel to Canada that is justified in the circumstances, you may be issued a temporary resident permit.

if you are from the US, i highly suggest you consider applying outland. it is much quicker, as you can technically land in 8-10 months. i don't understand why you would go back to wait to apply "in a couple of years". that doesn't make sense to me at all. US citizens don't need visas or trp's in order to enter canada - unless you are inadmissable for some reason that you are not telling us here. all you need to do, if you intend to apply for PR, is show significant proof of ties to the us.

quite honestly, i think you will be shooting yourself in the foot if you just send an inland app and hope for the best. an outland app is more flexible and faster.

Since you state, in one of your other posts, that your common-law partner is sponsoring you, leaving for any length of time (even more than a couple of weeks) will negate the time that you've been cohabiting with your partner. You would need to start all over again and live together (again) for 1 full year before you could claim common-law.

You do not have to pay everything upfront. You can pay the sponsor fee ($75) and the applicant fee ($475) and the OWP ($155) now and defer the RPRF ($490) until later...much later. You are NOT safe by simply submitting your Inland application. You must include the OWP, or a visitor extension application to be safe.

Also...you have lived with your partner for a solid year (not 364 days, but a full year) right?!?!
