About the new ETA

I am wondering if a person from Mexico that has a valid Canadian Visa will have to fill in the ETA online also. Is the Visa no longer valid? or can this person come and visit without filling in this online?

Starting Dec 1st, TRV for Mexican citizens become void and an ETA should be requested.

Thanks for the answers. Once more question. A nephew is trying to apply for the ETA but it does not work, at the end it says that he can apply for a visa. Does he have to wait until Dec 1 to apply for it? What if someone wants to travel Dec2. He wants to come on Christmas.

Thanks again and I understand this. My question is, what if he wants to apply before, if he decides to travel Dec 1. Not saying that he will but in that case, I wonder how he can do the ETA. At the airport? but then he cant buy tickets until he gets the authorization. A little confusing........
