I would like to know if I marry my partner in canada is he will be covered in my health insurance? I'm going to canada to work.?

In order for your partner to be seen as your partner in Canada, you either have to be married or you have to have lived together as a couple for 12 months or longer.

If you are on a skilled work permit, your partner would be eligible for an open work permit and could be covered under AB health. If you are low skilled, your partner would be in Canada as a visitor and would not be eligible for health care. However, if he gets his own work permit, he would.

i don't know about other province but in Alberta if your dependents (partners or kids) are on a visitor visa they do get Alberta health card with a expiry date which is valid till their legal status expires.

If he does not qualify for Provincial Healthcare, you may opt for a private insurance plan for Visitors to Canada, that will cover him in case there is a medical emergency.
