I recently received an offer for a MSc -Course from Lakehead University and planning to apply OINP Masters Graduate stream after graduation.
The offer is for a one-year program. In the past, I could only obtain a 1-year work permit.
This seems insufficient to complete the immigration process. So I initially planned to apply for another 2-year program, but the new policy released by the IRRC has disrupted my plans.
IRRC recently announced that “graduates of master’s and other short graduate-level programs will soon be eligible to apply for a 3-year work permit. ”
So if I start my study in September, do I have the chance to get a 3-year work permit?
LU said that they can change my offer into a 2-year prom, but now it’s a tough choice for me. Really need some suggestions.
And another question. I checked OINP's documents, and it says “ to qualify, at least one academic year of full-time study is needed. "
I just wander If I start my studies on September 5, 2023, and graduate at the end of August 2024 (just a few days short of a full year), will this be considered as one academic year?
Thanks
