Hello!

A quick question. If the sponsor has suspended the student loan payments could it affect him sponsoring me into Canada??

Thanks!

I wondered the same thing. It wasn't listed as one of the possible reasons for sponsorship ineligibility on any of the official websites, so I went ahead and applied, and just got my sponsorship approval a couple days ago, despite having defaulted on my student loan (which I am now trying to remedy - please don't judge me for that!)

So it would seem that the answer is no - that shouldn't affect it, he should still be able to sponsor you!

Thanks for your reply!
Hopefully. We will probably check it with the lawyer too. To be 100% sure! :)

student loan shouldnt affect the sponsor's approval process; this is similar to having credit card debt..

The only requirement is the sponsor not be on welfare or declared bankruptcy

my partner has student loans, and we got his SA just few days ago, so I am guessing it is ok :)
