congratulations. what you can do is to go to canada on vacation, "land", and activate your PR. then return to india and keep applying for jobs via internet or keep improving your qualifications according to the canadian job market. once you get a job, you can always go back.

it depends. i wold suggest u to get 6 months vac if possible, land in canada with ur wife, send her back a week later (its winter season). u get a single room rented for app 400 dollars and start looking for instructors job in colleges, univs. unless u have a phd getting a asst prof in univ is impossible.
colleges would be ur best bet to start. toronto is crowded with colleges. but if ur wife is under a diff skilled NOC, then she can try for jobs. however to match a life style of 60k in india, u need to make atleast 40k in canada. if both of u come, then u have to rent an appart that costs around 1000 bucks...in no time other expenses will drain ur money. then u wuld be forced like many new immigrants to work in coffee/fas food eateries...
so one must go back in a week and one must stay put and try the best to find a related job.

as ja77 suggested u can try that option too. but it is difficult for a college to call a candidate who is in india and start the interview process. they are alread swarmed with hundreds of canadian MSC and PHD degree holders.
however of ur UG was in a technical area, then u can widen ur scope once ur in canada.
however beware of two most common excuses that 80% of employers will say to ur face.
1. no canadian work experience.
2. no canadian education.

it is complicated. excuse me if this sounds not so positive. but after seeing PhDs and Masters working in tim hortons and subways because they believed blindly in their skills that got them a job elsewhere in the world. its a different game and so different rules.
but i have seen persistent people getting what they want eventually.
for ur noc, a min of 2 k/month salary is possible. if a full time position, then atleast 40k.
NETWORK. this word will be ur life saver in canada.
take care.

taking a single room would be usually in a house occupied by the owner's family. so a single room for both of u would be very hard to find. however if u have contacts in canada do ask them if they could accomodate both of u for a week, just for landing purposes. after she leaves, u can find a room easily for yourself.
look at this website
kijiji.ca look for a city of ur choice and look under short term house/apt rentals.
and no there is nothing like U MUST pay 1000k. dont fall for it or anything else. my point was that it would be almost impossible to get a room for a couple just for a week or even a month for a reasnable amount. but if u search hard, u might find one. look into kijiji.ca and craiglist.com.
dont spend big money on accomodation without a good job in hand. u will need ur money very badly when u finally get a job and want to buy a house or a car for commuting for setting up a rented place.

Dear Nicholas,

I guess so...
And I think it's a right attitude too, 'coz I look forward to my 'pound of flesh' also one of these days !

Said that, I wish u take a wee bit of ur time to look into my other posts as well... with 22 yrs of Edn & 25 yrs of Experience (incl 10 yrs of serving my country as an Army Officer), I've seen it all. Situations, which u cannot even fathom (regret my ignorance -u might be as experienced too). Besides, I'm at a higher age bracket (I wish/hope u r younger than me) and have been groomed that way, I think we 'oldies' have a way with that. Thus, I guess, felicitating comes naturally to me.

Deep regards.
Here's wishing all the very best to u too !!!

Ps: Sorry, if I had offended u (or anyone as such). U may just ignore my 'congrats msgs' & view them as unsavoury garbage.

Cheers,
My dear Nicholas,

I'm a Military Graduate of Sandhurst Academy-UK. Also got 8 in IELTS. Have business associates in Canada and have visited Toronto, Edmonton & Vancouver 11 times (last in Aug 2009). Besides, scores of my folks are in the North Americas, Europe, the Middle East & the Far East. I have travelled all over the Globe. I'm sure you have seen as much too.

Warm Regards.

Ps: Sorry others. Hope me & Nicholas shall soon take this discussion on a seperate thread, opened exclusively for it.
