Hey people, I want to tell you that when i receivd my visa, there was a letter with my passport in which it was written that i hav to show this letter to the immigration officer and he'll ask me some questions and then he'll give me the permit. What questions he'll ask me? As i hav got 8 months visa , for how much time i wil get study and work permit?

What you got in your passport right now is a TVR (Temporary Resident Visa) which will give you access to Canada. Now you will be needing the study permit. The letter that you are talking about is the approval letter of your permit.

At the port of entry, you will have to give the letter and they will print out and attach the permit with your passport (it another colorful piece of paper). This will give you the right to stay and study in Canada. You will not get any work permit for the time being but will be able to apply for it after completing 6 months of education.

You will be getting 8 months study permit and later, you can extend it. At the POE, they will not ask you anything that you cannot answer. Just some casual greetings and simple questions like "which university" and "whether you are coming to this country for the first time", etc.

1. For your Post Graduate Work Permit = you shall get a full 8 month work permit.

2. For your Off-campus work permit = It’s almost impossible for you to get it. As you already know that you are not eligible to work for the first 6 months. And when you apply for Off-campus work permit at ‘Case Processing Centre, Vegreville, Alberta, it generally takes nearly 2 months (may be more thn that) to process your Off-campus work permit. So, in all it’s actually 6 + 2 months = 8 months.

3. On what basis you would like to claim visa extension. You need logical and valid reason for visa extension.

*You have one option, first check out your LOA/department website and see the maximum permissible time to finish your course (Is it 15/18/24 months?). May be you can claim visa extension on the ground that you need more time to complete your studies (only up to those ‘maximum permissible duration’).

Ragz b prepared.. they dont just ask some questions.. rather he will be asking so MANNNYYYYY questions.. meri ik kallu ne litti si... saale ne 15 min laga te...

n canadian immigration ta theek.. while departure at IGIA agar budha mil gaya ta fer ho gaya kam.. usne mhi meri interview lenni shuru kar ti.. interview nahi lecture.. "KYU PAISA waste karan kaneda challe.. tussi jawan ho india wich padho india wich job karo/.. kyu ethe padh k bahar paisa la k unhadi economy strong karde.. n blah blah blah" do carry ear plugs while immigration check if u want to escape that lecture

1. You may get extension (if any) only for the completion of your program and that's too only up to a maximum permissible limit as set by your school to complete your course. You should check out your LOA/Program website to see the maximum completion duration of your course. In short, you may get extension ONLY for the completion of your current program.

2. To extend your study permit, you must apply before the expiry date of your study permit. In any case, you should put off application for renewal at least 30 days before the current permit expires. Suppose, if you apply for a renewal of your study permit & the study permit expires before you receive an answer, you can continue to study until you receive a decision. But keep in mind that there is NO guarantee that you application for permit renewal will be accepted. Such decisions are made on the basis of all individual facts/circumstances.

You will get your PGWP (of 8 months duration) and once your PGWP duration is over, you need a positive LMO in your favor to continue your job. In case you do not want to study after getting your renewed study permit, thn you have no option but to leave Canada.

Hi,

1. You will get PGWP only once. Now you decide if you would like to apply for the same after the completion of your first program or a possible second program at Saskatchewan. Since your first course is of 8 months duration which means you have almost NO chance to get your off-campus work permit with in time. (It's actually 6 + 2 months to get your off campus work permit).

2. You can apply for a second course;

- After completing your first course and before the expiry of PGWP.
- Or, after completing your first course and without applying for PGWP.

May be you would like to enroll in a two year course (possibly in a University) after the completion of your first 8 months course. You will get PGWP only once, so why not use it for a longer duration course! With 8 months course, you will get only 8 months of PGWP, but with a 2 years course, you will get a full 3 years of PGWP.

m not going for uni cozz of feesss...!
otherwise my scores are gud enuff to help me to get admission in uNiv....
now my question is ...tell me which of the following option is better for me :------------
1) I complete my 8 mnth course n apply for PGWP n shift to sasketchewan n after wrking for 6 mnth get my provincial PR and den after staying dere for 2 or 2.5 years ..i get my FEDRAL PR...

2) shalll i change my course to any 2 year program after landing dere...d prob is ..dat some ppl say changing course puts negative effects on yur PR ..dats y m reluctant to change my course..

3.) firtsly i do my 8 mnth course and den without taking any PGWP ..i apply for my second course (2 years program) at onc e.......
it wud give 3 year wk pmt ....but d problem here will be dat i ill have to pay the fees for 3 years ....and i think it wud be wastage of tym..as 3 year study +1 year job ..n it sayz dat ill get my PR in 5th year i mean 2017
