Hi everyone, brand new to the forum so here goes...

I recently married on the 18th August to my wife who is a Canadian citizen. I am a British citizen, as is my wife (She has dual citizenship) and we live with my parents in the UK, which we have done since February 2011.

We are going through the process of applying for my permanent residency visa for Canada, but I have a few worries.

1. We have booked a 12 day Holiday to Canada in May to visit my wife’s family. I have return flights booked and paid for. Will I be allowed to enter the country as I normally do or is this not allowed whilst applying for a permanent residency visa?

2. We want to go travelling at some point (for 3-6 months kind of thing), Can I go travelling whilst I await the approval of my permanent residency visa, or is this not possible? If they needed further information can I go to any embassy in the world or only to only I applied through? Also If I wait for my visa to arrive, land in Canada, and then leave like 2-3 weeks later for 3-6 months could this cause issues?

Thanks in advance

Jack

Welcome! In May when you come for your visit along with your passport and return ticket have a copy of your receipt showing the PR fee's have been paid (maybe the sponsorship approval letter if you have it by then) and you should have no problems entering. You can travel all you want while awaiting your PR but if you are needed for an interview you will have to return to London (assuming this will be your VO since your in the UK) for the interview, of course you can check e-mails as this is how most VO's contact the applicant if they need anything further it will have to be provided to them you don't have to be in the UK to mail it to the VO but you do need to have what it is they want with you or you will have the extra trip home. Yes you can get your visa and land and then return home, you will need your PR card to return tho it must be mailed to a Canadian address but you can have it mailed to you from there. Good Luck!

Thanks Creampop,

If for example I was required for an interview in London, Would I have say 1 month to get back, Or would I have less than this. I understand you may not be able to answer this buty thought I would give it a shot ;D

I honestly dunno what kind of time limit they give with interviews it could even be that each VO has their own limit but I don't think they would request one and only have mailed you the day before you should have atleast 2 weeks you would think a common courtesy... it's very unlikely you will need an interview being from the UK tho... but you never want to count anything out till you hear it from them.
