Dear all,

I am in the process of registering an online demand for a temporary work permit in alberta.

A few documents mentionned in the list do no make sense in my case, but are marked as "required". Could you please advice me on this matter?
The documents are the following:

- Evidence that you meet the requirements of the job offer (required): In my case the profession is not reglemented. What kind of document should I upload?

- Letter of current employer (required): But I am currently unemployed, what should I do?

Thank you so much for your help,
S.

a) Your educational documents if any, any certifications, any past job experience letters, even pay stubs and bank statements showing you have been earning money back home from the same profession's job

b) it is a HUGE negative. CIC sees it that if you are currently unemployed in home country, you are very likely to over stay even if not granted PR or extension in Canada. Try finding a job and arrange a currently employed situation before you apply. Often just accepting a job offer and current month's pay stub is sufficient. However, not having it would significantly risk acceptance of work visa.

You would need very strong grounds then to convince visa officer. I always see such cases with rejection saying "not strong ties to home country or even not satisfied that candidate meets job requirements" (if you are not earning from the job in your home country, you most likely will be assumed not qualified)

Thank you so much for your help.

When you say "you are very likely to over stay even if not granted PR or extension in Canada", I am not sure to understand to what you are referring. I am not yet in Canada, I am currently in my home country. Do you mean overstaying in my homecountry? If so, I don't understand. Could you be more specific please?

I greatly appreciate your support.

Regards,
S.

You are most welcome. Sure, here is the explanation.

A work permit is for temporary residence for a limited time in Canada. Once that time is up, either you come back, or you apply for permanent residence or find another way to extend you legal status in Canada.

If you are well employed in your home country in your profession, if for some reason your wp does not latter results in PR, you have some thing to come back to. Against this, if you are not well employed, it probably makes it look like you would do any thing to stay in Canada (since you have nothing worth going back to) even if you cannot stay there legally. So having a good and relevant job back home when applying for work permit plays a strong role in proving "ties to home country" as well as "demonstrate that you meet job requirements"
