A College or a Uni? ::::::: A diploma or a Degree?

dear frnds

i am looking for a 1 or may be 2 yr full time Masters Degree course.

many univ. are offering it.

however, there are some colleges offering the same but the Credential is a "Advanced Diploma"

my aim is to do a masters degree, get work permit and then apply for the PR.

my queries-

1. In Canada, is an Advanced Diploma (awarded by a College, like Seneca/Centennial)
Equivalent to a Masters Degree awarded by a University?

2. is a diploma accepted by the 'work permit issuing' authority, for granting the same?

3. which holds more long term Value, in respect of becoming more acceptable in job markets in canada?

4. suppose i dont opt a full time 1 year Masters degree, and go for a 2 year part time degree, Credential being the same.
now, would i be eligible for a 3 yrs Work permit, as i will be opting for a 2 yr course
or will it be counted as a 1 yr course only and wud give me 1 yr work permit only.

Pls guide in full details, as it will decide my future actions, may be many more will also benefit.

No, Advanced diploma is not equivalent to master's degree. Master's degree are offered by universities only.

2. is a diploma accepted by the 'work permit issuing' authority, for granting the same?

Since an advanced dip. is not equivalent to master's so It is not accepted for anything involving master's.

3. which holds more long term Value, in respect of becoming more acceptable in job markets in canada?
I do not understand who u r comparing the master's degree with ? an advanced diploma is lower qualification than a master's degree.

No part time degree are not given any weightage(if u r an international student) and will not get u anything.

Moreover,If u r in india and yet to apply - You can't pursue a part time course ur visa will be refused in case u do.

Go for a master degree from an established canadian University.
Go to university site www.canadian-universities.net/
apply online
get admission in full time master degree (part time international students r not given visa)
apply for visa
and fly
then after 1 yr u will be able to apply for PR

YES

Yes we need to to complete a degree or diploma but not necssasry from top uni's any govt funded collg would do.

Alright so I can get work permit after I complete my 2 years diploma.I'll get 1.5 or 2 years work permit .. after that can I apply for PR ? do they give PR to diploma's of (fulltime 2 years) ?

you can work on campus if you are a full time student and after 6 months you can apply for off campus work permit approximately 20 hours in a week you can work during studies and in semester break of 2 month you can work 40 hours in a week

after completing 2 years diploma you can apply for work permit .......
