“We’re also going to reduce some of the barriers and the silly rules … in order to give companies freedom to bring in the best and the brightest,”
“We’ll get rid of many of these [required] labour-market impact assessments which slow things down enormously.”
-Immigration Minister John McCallum

A Liberal-dominated House of Commons committee has completed a report on options for altering the controversial program and will make the recommendations public next month when Parliament resumes.
The report by the human-resources committee was completed in June but wasn’t made public in time for the summer recess.
Parliament resumes September 19th.

to get 600 points for a job offer, you need LMIA as a Temporary foreign worker now. But if there is no LMIA requirement, it is easy to get 600 points just with a job offer. That is the ponit

We don't know that's what these comments mean.

However if only a job offer ends up being required to get 600 points, we're going to see average EE points skyrocket and the cut off for ITA will substantially increase. That will mean that anyone without a job offer can forget about being selected. It also means that some with job offers may not be selected since so many will now have job offer points.

Try read the entire article before you get hyped with couple of sentences.

Overall it is good news, yet, seems irrlevant to most of the applicants here.

For example,

A spokesperson in Mr. McCallum’s office said the minister’s reference to silly rules relates to some of the restrictions that apply to visiting professors. The spokesperson also noted that the minister has said the government is looking at waving labour-market impact assessments in certain cases where that would help attract top talent to come to Canada.
And yes, still nothing mentioned for international students.

They said you probably would not need LMIA for being Temporary foreign worker with a job offer.

They didn't say you'll get 600 points under EE if you have just a job offer.

It's not just that. These people are dreaming if they think they're going to remove the LMIA requirement for the 600 points in Express Entry. If they were to do that, it would lead to underground corruption as employers would seek to make money off of desperate foreigners by "selling" job offers. Once the public catches wind of the fact that employers shut out Canadians in favor of foreigners who pay for job offers they will raise hell through the media and meetings with their MPs. That's an ugly situation that no government can afford to let continue for very long.

In any case, I wouldn't pop up the champagne. Any changes they make toward widening the door can be easily undone when the Conservatives take power again.

I dont think there is going to be any major overhaul.
They're gonna have to do a little bit of something with the immigration targets and ratios though.... maybe!? I imagine they'll have to publicise the results of the public discussions/surveys, and make a few token changes on the results to show some action. If they're making this big deal about how they care what the Canadian people want... and then just do what they themselves want anyway ( if you follow :-X) then they'll just look to all the Canadian people like they just don't give a ****!!
