I just called the call center and the agent I spoke to told me that the 88 days starts from the time the officer begins processing the application and NOT from the date CIC received the application in the mail room.
I think I've read here that the 88 days starts from the date the application was received.
So I am getting two very different answers. I asked a few times to confirm with the agent, and she assured me that the 88 days starts once the application has been opened by the officer. I asked her how long it typically takes for the visa officer to approve a straightforward sponsorship and she said about 60 days. I told her I had read on numerous websites that it only takes about 1-3 days, but she insisted it was impossible and that it is normally about 60 days.
Confused...not stressed...just confused...
She also said they contact CRA to verify information, yet when I spoke to CRA, they said they never contact them...again, confused.
