I think our frustration needs to be heard by the government, it is nice to share our thoughts here, but I find none of the authorities reads these. They need to know what are we going through, and how long have we been waiting considering the amount of money we spent in this Country as International students. Let me know what you guys think
You should come to the US if you really want to see frustration. Students's especially from India are stuck in decades of backlog to get green cards. At least you don't have that unfair system in cananda.

It's good you did. H1b is a slavery. I can say that since I have been in the US for 10 years.
Not really.

Slaves don't have a choice to return where they came from, H1B holders do. Slaves aren't volunteering to continue in their pathetic state of existence, H1B holders are. Slaves are second grade citizens at the mercy of their overlords, H1B holders aren't.

Slavery is a strong word associated with terrible histories. I'm sure that was used casually with no mean intentions but be more sensitive.

It's a modern slavery. Unless you have experienced it, I would disagree with you. And where do you go after spending your entire adulthood in a country.

This is a pretty idiotic derail, so I'm not going to spend more than one post on this. Slavery is a term which has multiple definitions, some more looser than others. One of the definitions in the Oxford English dictionary are:

...
1.2 A person who is excessively dependent upon or controlled by something:
‘the poorest people of the world are slaves to the banks’
‘she was no slave to fashion’
...
https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/slave

On top of that it's a very common and acceptable hyperbole, so quite frankly it's ludicrous to put it forward as some kind of sensitive term.

Do not wish to digress further and that dictionary reference only served to prove the point I was trying to make.

H1b holders are, in a very real sense, slaves only to their own personal aspirations as they can pack their bags and leave at will. They are dependent upon personal wish fulfilment and controlled by their own desires. In that extremely limited sense, it is indeed slavery. But to oneself. Which isn't bad at all. And which is the key difference.

The connotation in that message though was that US corporations and/or the government employ/treat H1b as slave labor which is even more ludicrous than your ludicrous attempt to support that ludicrous assertion by terming my interjection as ludicrous. I don't think any H1b holder was imported, detained or forced against their will to enter or continue to stay in the US. This forum is a microcosm of the society at large and it is certainly not encouraging to see such comments from temporary residents in NA who feel they are entitled to some specific things when it's clearly a quid pro quo situation.

I had to say what I did and I'm done here now.

Many of us didn't came to the US on H1b and neither knew about it at young ages. We had to take it up as it was the only option. And people, don't give that same lecture that it's your choice and all. As I said before, many of us spent our adulthood here, went to school here, made our careers, best friends..etc. It's not easy to leave all of that behind.

I don't know what people with H1B are complaining about, since there are millions of other people doing everything they can just get in US. On the other hand you have visa and able to work legally and still complaining.?? ???

Slavery is a completely wrong word. You could term it as exploited workers or something. Which slaves own BMW, audi cars, makes $100k+ USD annually, resides in best school districts and sends their kids to top schools/universities, buys organic food, takes expensive vacations to Orlando, buys houses for $600k to 1 million. I have seen how desis live in US and I know where you are coming from..people in trackitt just hype up everything for no reason and keep complaining all the time. It is definitely an unfair and outdated system and definitely affects people in many ways. But it is not slavery. If you find yourself enslaved by any means, please find better employer.
