Hi fellow travelers,

I live in Surrey, BC and I am employed with my employer which is based in Seattle. I have a personal office in Bellingham, WA where I commute once every 1 or 2 weeks. I DO NOT commute daily, but once every 1 or 2 weeks.

My position is hybrid and not fully remote.

I wanted to ask if that would mean that the 401k contributions I make in US will not be eligible for deductions when filing Canadian tax return?

What has been the experience regarding 401k deductions for those who commute to US for work either daily or weekly?

Thanks @swan0206 the post you shared appears to talk about 401k withdrawals.

I was more concerned regarding scenarios where we work for a US employer while living in Canada. The work is hybrid, meaning traveling to US once every week and working rest of the time from Canada and also contributing to 401k in US.

When filing taxes in Canada would a person be able to claim deductions for amount contributed to 401k like a person would claim for RRSP if they were working in Canada instead?
