there was a recent thread here on Australia and it seems that IT is in demand.

I'm from Australia and this is a HUGE lie. Not only am I earning more in Toronto for doing the same job, but the cost of living is almost half. If by in demand they mean level 1 and level 2 tech support, then by all means.

Not only that but our Liberal government (note that the Liberals are our conservative government) are backwards in their ways, and have removed funding from STEM fields and research, and also destroyed one of the biggest infrastructure projects in our history (instead of running FTTP fibre to almost every home in Australia, we are now using FTTN, and using copper cables that are over 50 years old). Don't get me started on the state of IT in Australia. Stay in Canada, or move to the US/UK/UN.

Hypothetical question, suppose CIC lowers the cut off score (think positive guys! don't let frustration get the better of you :) ) but can only invite a specific number of applicants for the draw, will the invite be based on the date the ee profile was created?

Let's say if they lower the score to 460 and can only invite 1,500 applicants but the people meeting this score is somewhere around 4,000....will they pick the 1,500 based on who got in the database first?

Picking applications based on date also means reverse the whole system back to pre-2015, the first-in first-served.

The cut off score will definitely not go sub 450, even the ITAs go up again, since IRCC will award more points for Canadian degrees -> thousands of CEC applications will go 450+.

This change has been confirmed by Mr.John McCallum himself, not some random guy in a random convention.

^ So you're saying if CIC decides that at one particular draw the cut off is 460, and there are currently 3,000 applicants falling under this category...
If CIC can only issue 1,500 in that draw then it will picked randomly?

Again, this is a hypothetical question. Appreciate your insights on the question...there's no need to throw in hate, negativity around the forum :)

They pick the number of people to draw based on the cut off. if there are 3000 people above 460, the cutoff will not be 460. That is why you see variations in the ita numbers. and that is why it is not getting under 482. My theory that if they go to 481 the number of people will be > 1200 so they don't, they keep it at 482 not caring if the number of ita's is now 740.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm wondering whether you would be able to have a look at my post here and offer your input on the job market in Canada?

This is the answer

I didn't add any hate or negativity in my comment at all. Just stating some facts and asking people not to believe anything they hear.

Still at 478 and waiting. I wish I had this score prior to May.

How you increased your score?

I appeared for IELTS again in May and got CLB 9+ in all bands. Earlier I was short of 0.5 band in listening so my score was at 417. After I got the result in June, I was able to increase my score by 61 points and now I have almost exhausted all the options of increasing my score.

Sitting at 481. This is most frustrating. ??? :-\ :-X :'(
I was 481 since May and till the last draw. Now I'm 476 - age. So you're still in good position))

Same here. I am also at 478 and wish I had applier prior May 2016.

Good luck to everyone here! Currently my husband's points is 390++( *sigh* not even in the 400 mark :-[)

We're applying for a PNP nominee application since this is the most feasible way for us to lift CIC points to ensure federal draw. Anyway, it's worth a try and minus the time and expenses a potential PNP nomination would entail. At least there won't be any "what if's..."

I see there are actually A LOT of people at 481, and I feel so frustrated myself i can't imagine how frustrating it is for them

But Im starting to lose hope, cic created a huge number of people in the last months sitting above 470 and it'll take a huge number of ITAs to have them selected. This sucks and liberals suck
