481 points is single people in their 20s, with masters, good English, no French, no Canadian experience, 3 years of foreign experience. These are all very easily attainable qualifications, so I believe at least a couple of thousands of people in the pool has 481 points at the moment.

Since they don't want to issue a lot of invitations, cut-off score keeps being above 481. In this case it's exactly 482.

Expect it to remain that way for a while.

This makes sense. And so discouraging. Unless there are 2000 people at 481 and next draw the will take like 2500 which is not far fetched. But with every 25p people we will get down 1 point? That would be devastating.

This new government has done nothing aside from putting on a show for the world to see how amazing canada is by bringing thousands of refugees in, which i have absolutely no problem with and I actually love the fact that they are doing so much to help out people in need. But please don't keep others especially international students in a limbo by focusing too much on one problem. I have seen some of my friends leave this country this summer just because the new government has made 480 the new 450. And now I'm in the same situation. We worked hard to get the 450+ points after 3 years of work permit and this is what we are being rewarded with. People like me have spent their prime years studying and building a career in this country and stayed here over half a decade or more to make our dreams come true but someone with more money and a personal relationship with employers can just waltz through the whole process by getting pnp or lmia. This is absolutely unfair.

Absolutely, money grabbing provincial government throwing out PNP like candy, with just 400 minimum requirement and adding 600 on top of that once paid nominated. Meanwhile the actual skilled workers graduated in Canadian university after paying hundreds of thousands dollars, been kicked out of the country because they given out generated invitation to the ones paying them and collected so much money that met their quota not even half way through the year, this is just pathetic.

All they do recently has been to clear out 482+ candidates. I predict there are more than 2000 sitting at 481. And they don't want to invite that many people to invite because it's a lot of work for them, which they are not interested in. I think 2500 is very far-fetched.

It indeed is nothing but a liberal show, Canada took one of the least numbers of Syrian refugees out of all the countries that did take them in, with around 25,000 only so far, but they bragged about it more than any other country
I'm no canadian citizen but I was excited about the new liberal government cause they're kind and accepting of all races and religions, but looks like its mostly just talk and show

With entire 2016 PNP quota already gone at end of April, you are looking at thousands of people with 600+ at least, not to mention other streams, this is a joke.

If they don't take that many at some point, they will never meet the 2017 quota whatever that is. I seriously doubt 2017 quota to be something like half of 2016's

can some one plz help me with the 2 or more certificate my points should be 488 but not updating in the system for some reason :s

It's sad but I have to agree, the show is a bit too much now. The new PM is all about refugee, feminism (then it came back and bit him when he accidentally "elbowed" a female mp last month) and now about lifting the visa requirement for Mexican travellers. It seems like they forget why the Conservatives set the system up back in 2009. It's because a majority of Mexicans after getting to Canada, all claim for asylum which accounted for more than 25% of all asylum claims in Canada.

This is indeed a great country, but you gotta help yourself first before you want to help other people. The loonie is not in a very good situation as well as the oil, forestry and mining industries, but you still want to take more people in to live off welfare? I know I don't have a rights to complain since I'm not a Canadian citizen, but I know many Canadians are thinking alike.

Hello all,

Why everyone claims that the 481 is about 2000? What is the source of that?

Also, anyone know how many is the 2016 quota and does it include refugees ?

I think they are just guessing 481 with 2000...

Very thin chances of 2000 people at "481". It is very clear now that IRCC is sticking to around 800 ITA every draw. May be 481 could take ITA total to around 900 or max 1000. I'm very sure the only reason is because they are processing refugee files and don't want to create a backlog. (No one know exactly what is happening behind the scenes) :-\

Let's wait for the mid-year report...that will paint a clearer picture of how many people are waiting per score band.
To say that 2,000 people are waiting in the 480 range kinda discourages everyone below that mark, and that's pretty much most of the forumers here.

For me, it's kinda nerve-wrecking to read every two weeks that the cut off is not coming down at all, but despite that, I'm still hopeful that it will come down - of the 12 remaining draws this year, there has to be one that goes to that level! hehe

Because if 480 is indeed the new 450 cut off; CIC might as well restrict the requirements of creating an EE profile. That way it weeds out all the scores below that and saves everyone's time from being worried or frustrated.
