Hi All,

"Determination — number of invitations

1. (1) For the purposes of paragraph 10.2(1)(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the number of invitations that may be issued during the period beginning on June 29, 2016 and ending on June 30, 2016 is 773.
Required rank"

As per the above statement, does CIC send invitations till midnight of June-30-2016 or it has already short listed the candidates with CRS score (482)?
normally, ITA will come within 24 hrs of draw timings...still have 21 hrs from now..

This is stupid, if they keep issuing such little invites in such short time interval, no one below 480 ever going to have a chance.

Hi Promax,

I received ITA on 1-Jun-2016. As per my PGWP issue date, I was short of 18 days for 52 weeks. Considering the work experience that I have gained while WAITING for PGWP will be counted towards my 1 year of Canadian experience. If it counts, I completed my 52 weeks (i.e., 54.8 full-time weeks and 1653hrs).

I have proper documentation that I was not a full-time student during the wait time of my PGWP( which is approximately 2 months).

If I decline my invitation which I received on 1-June-2016. Will I get invitation in this round?

Hi Nalanda,

So you mean to say, you have applied under CEC and you have not completed 1 year of exp by the time you got ITA..if so, this will be a misrepresentation to CIC...and you may have to decline your current ITA (rcvd on June-01st) and wait for the next ITA..

It is obvious that, if you reject your current ITA now, you will not get ITA for June-29th rounds...

anyways, please wait for other suggestions as well...

Hi Promax,

As per this link, http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-186.html

"186 A foreign national may work in Canada without a work permit

(v) if they are the holder of a study permit and

(i) they are a full-time student enrolled at a designated learning institution as defined in section 211.1,

(ii) the program in which they are enrolled is a post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program, or a vocational training program at the secondary level offered in Quebec, in each case, of a duration of six months or more that leads to a degree, diploma or certificate, and

(iii) although they are permitted to engage in full-time work during a regularly scheduled break between academic sessions, they work no more than 20 hours per week during a regular academic session; or

(w) if they are or were the holder of a study permit who has completed their program of study and

(i) they met the requirements set out in paragraph (v), and

(ii) they applied for a work permit before the expiry of that study permit and a decision has not yet been made in respect of their application.
"

So I am not misrepresenting to CIc.

- I received degree completion letter from University on 23-Feb-2015 (From 23-Feb-2015 onwards, I am no more a student)
- I applied for the post-graduate work permit (PGWP) online on 24-Feb-2015
- My study permit was valid till 31-March-2015. From 1-April-2015, I was on implied status till 7-May-2015
- But the date issue of PGWP is on 8-May-2015
- I received ITA on 1-June-2016

also been in at 481 since the points went up. pretty annoying really seeing as how my partner is canadian and we could have went the spousal route but chose EE because figured it would be quicker.

Why not apply to spousal one too in order to increase your odds and take the one that processes faster?

we considered it but thought it was not worth paying both app fees. Plus I figured I was shoe-in for EE considering the results before I went in the pool. guess we'll be reconsidering..

The scores did get low despite the similar number of invitations, i expect next couple of draws will be good indicator of whether the scores will go lower or not, i believe they will, if not let's see.

Don't risk it. Yes it's expensive but what can you do.

Also super silly that if you have a foreign spouse you get points for their education and experience in EE, but with a Canadian spouse, no points.

Didnt apply last year as I was busy convincing wife to take IELTS. As soon as she took it, score is hovering above 470.

Got in at 466 and then lost 5 points due to IELTS expiry. Sitting at 461. Really sad state of affairs.

Was even contemplating French but frankly, after 3 IELTS, dont have the capacity or the money.

Cheers

Yeah, aircanada was asking why I didn't do both. You can apply for both but you have to pay the fees for both. that plus the amount of points was the reason I only did EE.
