Personally, I would not call learning a second language like French a waste of time especially if you intend to migrate to Canada.
Learning a language is not just about getting extra points in the Express Entry, it actually makes you competitive in the labor market...plus you get to integrate with the Canadian community easier if you know both languages.
Agreed...I just started learning French and I have COPR. We must make every effort to integrate smoothly into the country of our choice. After all, it is a two-way transaction - we want to go there for a better standard of life, while they are accepting us so that we can contribute to their economy. Neither party is doing the other a favor - it is a mutually beneficial relationship ;)

I think you're on point. If you really intend to move you'll do everything in your power. That's why ladies and gentleman I've started Duolingo ;D :D
It's also good to note that French is the language of love, so singles would stand a better chance of a better (love) life in Canada too! hehe

As what @softwaretesting pointed out, I think CIC needs to revamp their EE profile system in such a way that they are more realistic with the invites and scores. Like, depending on the existing trend, people creating a profile in EE should be assessed upfront of their chances of being selected on the basis of the EE profile alone.

One good instance is if a new applicant creates a profile and the system computes for 441. The system should provide an automatic prompt advising the applicant like:
"Hi, thanks for creating a free profile in the Express Entry Pool. Just so you know, the cut off points for invites for the past 6 months has been 470. As such, I'd like to advise you that realistically your chances of getting invited is 0%. We'll keep your profile regardless, in case someone discovers all the dragon balls and wish to lower the cut off scores to your level.
If you wish to be pursue visa application, please consider the following options: (1) get a job offer; (2) improve your work experience; (3) improve your IELTS; (4) get a provincial nomination; (5) get a family member in Canada to sponsor you.

We wish you luck in your pursuit. Do you best, stay positive, and minimise the ranting online"

--I don't expect them to come up with something exactly like that, but the system should be flexible enough to realistically assess an applicant's chances based on the points and the trending score for ITA :)
