3 Years old kid visitor visa required to extend every 6 months while both parents having work permit

Hi All,

Need some clarification on my kid visitor visa. Are we required to extend kid visitor visa every 6 months even me and my wife is having work permit status in Canada.

My kid got visitor visa till the date of my work permit expiry. But during the immigration, officer told my wife that kid has to leave in 6 months from the day they enter to Canada as he is on visitor visa.

Visitors can stay up to 6 months. A visitor visa is just to enter Canada. You can apply for a visitor record for chid and it may be extended or refused. If school age, apply for study permit.

You need to extend every six months. You can do this from within Canada. No need to leave.
