Hi All,

Today June 29, 2016 I received (Applicant) another AOR2 by email and my wife who is the sponsor she also received one AOR1 month ago May 17, 2016 stating that "we recived your application under family class sponsorship". Does it have any significance or it is a normal case? Do you receive double acknowledgement?

N.B. CIC received my application April 1,2016 (Canada post) and I have submitted my application with OWP.
Thanks in advance.

AOR1 is when CIC in Mississauga receives your application for Part-1 (Assessment of Sponsor)
AOR2 is when your Visa Office receives your application for Part-2 (Assessment of Applicant)

For Inland applicants there is only one visa office for everything...CPC-M (Mississauga).

Hi Ponga,

Can you please tell me the difference between AOR1 and AOR2?
Thanks again.

I honestly have no idea, because when I applied (2013) Inland applicants only received one AOR. The next communication from CIC was [usually] sponsor approval, followed by AIP, then DM...then landing appointment letter.

Some people never get an AOR at all!

Check out CIC's Inland Processing Manual (IP8), available on their website. It may show what AOR 2 really means.

In `the old days', the AOR letter (sent to the sponsor) had:

Information on sponsor and applicant(s)

Date application(s) were received by CIC

File/application number

So...are they now splitting this [basic] information into two separate emails, thus creating a second AOR?

That is how (above you mentioned) my wife received AOR1 on May 17,2016.
I received today June 29, 2016 stating that application received by CIC.

That's the really confusing part.

AOR stands for Acknowledgement of Receipt...the application is included in what has been received. Why do they need to send a second AOR, confirming the same thing that AOR 1 confirms?!

I am confused too.
I checked INLAND APPLICATION TIMELINE doc file and look like lot of people received AOR2.
(perhaps they love me a lot :) and understand my anxiety)

Here's what is found on page 40:

8 Initial receipt and coding
An initial process occurs on receipt of every application, including those involving Quebec applicants.
This process includes information gathering, record creation and administrative steps to ensure that initial evaluation can begin.
This process includes, among others, the following steps:

verification for completeness;

return to sponsor, if application is not complete, or acceptance by date stamp receipt;

creation of both a paper and electronic file;

acknowledgement of receipt of the application;

request for any supporting documents or information that may be missing;

verification, and possible printing of the GCMS record; and

electronic transfer of biodata to CPIC.
--------

There is no reference to a second AOR being issued by CIC, anywhere. I have no idea why they're doing this, but...I can say also that about other parts of this process that make no sense to me. :)

Thanks again my friend.
I am just wondering what is happening with my application file.
