  • Final decision on PR application (all assessment is passed along with biometrics and medical etc. stuff) received in mid FEB 2024.
  • Dependent in India submitted passport within a week and received ECOPR and travel visa by 23rd Mar 2024. (COPR expiry Nov 2024)
  • Primary applicant was in Canada and emailed the same to IRCC via the same email.
  • Silence for next 9 months.
  • P1 for primary applicant received on 17th Oct 2024 (After requesting GCMS notes and an inquiry from MP office).
  • P2 received on 29th Oct 2024.
  • ECOPR received today (5th Nov 2024).
My understanding here is that MP inquiry helped me a lot in this process.

Congrats!

9-month silence sounds terrible, sorry to hear that you had to experience this. A couple of questions:
1. Did your dependents already travel to Canada to confirm their PR status on arrival?
2. Did you find the reason why it was 9-month delay? Did they just missed your replies and forget about your application?

Thank you

The period of silence was incredibly challenging. Each day brought its own stress and difficulties.

  1. The dependent traveled from the home country in June but was not granted status because the primary applicant had not completed their landing. We were informed that we must wait until the primary applicant's landing is finalized. Due to border policy, their passport and COPR copy were retained, and we were instructed to report every 30 days for updates on the primary applicant's file. We were told that if there were any updates, we would be contacted. However, temporary entry was permitted.
  2. The reason for the silence remains unclear. We submitted numerous web forms, but there were no updates in the system until we obtained GCMS notes and made an inquiry through our Member of Parliament. Our consultant indicated that the file may have gone off track, which could explain the lack of communication.

In the GCMS notes, did you happen to find out anything at all regarding security check? "Gone off track" is very vague in this regards. Is there any other details please?

gcms notes has all the details of the application but i was not able to umderstand that document. But yes it helped me to get our application on track after a 9 months silence.

Congratulations! I suppose it worked out without paying a visit to IRCC office =)

I wonder, does usually the status of PR card photo and mailing address change from "In review with IRCC" upon receipt of eCoPR? I'm seriously considering an option of travelling abroad right after eCoPR. Can't wait any longer =(
