Still all other pr applications process within a year time frame just saying we should have the same processing time
1. Canada isn't focused on quickly growing its population; it has housing, unemployment, and healthcare issues. The government follows a yearly immigration plan.
2 . Government gives time for protected people to adjust, adapt and start paying taxes. This is because many people who get citizenship leave soon after, and most apply for asylum just for economic reasons. That's why Canada doesn’t offer fast citizenship or PR.

Canada is not obligated to automatically grant permanent residency (PR) or citizenship to individuals who receive protected status. The 1951 Refugee Convention does not impose such a requirement either. A person applies for protection in Canada, claiming their life is at risk and danger back home, and if their claim is accepted, they are granted protected status. However, obtaining PR or citizenship depends on Canada’s domestic laws.
Conservative Party has suggested a "merit-based" system for refugees. This means not everyone who applies for asylum will automatically get PR or citizenship.

U r wrong in some point.

“Merit-based refugees” is not a standard term in refugee or immigration policy. However, it may refer to a system where refugee status or resettlement is granted based on certain qualifications, skills, or other criteria beyond just humanitarian need.

Typically, refugees are granted status based on well-founded fears of persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group, as outlined in the 1951 Refugee Convention. However, some countries may prioritize refugees who also have skills, education, or work experience that align with their economic or labor market needs.

For example, Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) helps skilled refugees migrate through economic immigration programs rather than traditional refugee resettlement pathways.

1. Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) this program not accept new applications. Also this program not eligible for protected person who are already inside Canada.
2. I am talking about protected person / convention refugees who are already inside Canada.
3. You can check conservative parties immigrantion promises.

Good day house, I will appreciate if I get an answer on this.

I’m a protected person and have applied for PR since April 2023. I got AOR in October 2023 and that’s the last I’ve heard from them. No biometrics request, no eligibility updates, nothing else so far. I also have an overseas spouse included in my PR application.

My question is, can a protected person like me go ahead to submit another PR application under the new Home Care worker pilot opening this March? Is this even feasible or allowed? I am a PSW and meet all the requirements of the program but I am unsure whether I am able to put in an application seeing as I already have a PR application as a protected person. Please advise, thank you
