Hi what does immigration check means ? Thanks.
AFAIK, it covers your physical presence for citizenship, your physical presence to see if you still are a Permanent Resident (respecting PR residency obligations) and also things like if you have a pending removal order against you etc.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a sept 2020 applicant, test done end of july, pp request sent on 15th sept, since then nothing. Contacted MP they told him they have to do immigration checks on me, I guess they were talking about this. Received my atip notes, it hasen't begun yet, wondering what the agent is doing

Hi guys i need your insight into this.
So long story short, my BG is in progress security part.

1. Checked from IRCC GCMS.

2. Requested CBSA notes and don’t see anything meaningful information there!

so my question is how to find out if security is pending with CBSA because notes from CBSA are not more than travelling information? I don’t see anywhere where they tell me where my file is pending!

would somebody guide me how to interpret CBSA notes?

3. Got notes from CSS and on the very first page they say the assessment was completed and IRCC was advised about an year ago that’s the day when my application went into process!

so now the question is to those who had security pending what you guys see on the first page does it say it pending/ in process/ or completed and IRCC advised as in my notes?

im so confused BG is pending since Dec 2020.

@rajkamalmohanram, @hawat
My background check was delayed by csis check. RCMP check which is called criminality check was completed essentially when they started processing the application. My first CIC gcms note clearly said criminality completed, but csis screening in progress. I think they forgot to remove csis part by mistake. For all next gcms notes it was removed. Csis completed the check in Oct and my background check changed to completed on the tracker. Even in the CIC gcms note after csis check and background check completion the csis part was removed.

As far as I know rcmp and csis are the parts need to be completed to have background check completed. It is strange you have both done but BG still in progress. I should mention I know someone who had realized that it took 10 months for CIC to change his BG to completed after rcmp and csis checks were done. I’m not an expert at all, but maybe you can think of submitting a CSE attaching proof of csis is done (csis gcms note) and rcmp is done as well ( CIC gcms note), and ask for BG getting updated ..

@hawat I appreciate your insight. The only thing worries me Css notes say that “security assessment completed and advised to IRCC” so I don’t think my security is pending with them( just my opinion)so not sure why Bg is not completing!

One more question Hawat, when you got your notes from CSS did they read your assessment is in progress or completed and if it said completed and IRCC was advised when was that ? Was that the date your application went into process?

The last note from csis says completed and CIC advised in Oct 2021. My BG changed to completed on tracker same date.

So today i have written an email to IRCC telling them about notes from CSS and security part which should have been completed an year ago and still not reflecting on online tracker. Lets see if they change BG now, else I’m gonna contact office of immigration minister.

Hi All

I have Applied with my family initially in May 2020. after 6 months they return the app as there was one line not printed in my wife's application
reApplied on NOV 2020. Received AOR 24th of Feb 2021. since then every single thing is" In progress " and no progress nor update whatsoever. My wife App shows updated on Nov 17th, 2021 but nothing changed in her tracker too. kids same thing

What do you advise? should I Order GCMS ? or check with other departments ( RCMP or CBA)
any recommended sequence of checks I should do?

Thanks in advance

GUYS, WE NEED HELP!

We applied in September 2020 (2 adults and 2 minor kids).
AOR: February 2nd, 2021.
September 7th, 2021, Background Verification Status has been updated to "completed". They never asked me or my wife for fingerprints.

Questions:
1) Does IRCC ask for fingerprints as a standard procedure? Or not. Are our BG/Security Checks definitely completed?
2) When can we expect to get the test invitation?
3) How much longer do you think we must wait to BECOME CANADIAN CITIZENS (best case / normal case scenarios)?

EVERY ANSWER WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

IRCC is a black hole and unpredictable. Nobody knows what is going inside it, and what will happen. It is good your BG check completed without fingerprint request, but the most important is prohibitions - I think. (You cannot become a citizen easily if your photo or name was not to the like of the officers for instance. You cannot become a citizen if you ever challenged a federal employee who tried to violate your rights as a human, and so on.)

I know an applicant who applied in 2016. Three times fingerprint requests. Nothing completed but the citizenship test, which is done in June 2021. No response from IRCC to finalize the application although he hired two immigration lawyers and sent nearly 100 messages to IRCC. (Just one response which was the application is on queue! without clarifying what kind of queue that is.

"In Process" has many interpretations. some of interpretations are "In process till the applicant kills himself or herself" or "In process till the applicant became 99 years old" and so on.

If you feel something weird is there, hire an immigration lawyer to follow up.

1. Not necessarily, I believe IRCC requests fingerprints only if there is a name match found while doing the background check. Then they can request the fingerprints to verify your identity. As your background check is already completed, most likely you will not get a fingerprint request.

2. It really depends on your local office. It could be anywhere between 5-8 months on an average from the time your local office receives your file.

3. Currently, it is taking around 18 - 20 months on an average. There are a few odd cases where people have got the citizenship in less than an year but most of the applications are delayed.

You can always submit a webform or contact your local MP. Just gotta keep prodding at IRCC and have tons of patience.

Any idea on how long after submitting the fingerprints, will the application be updated?? I got the fingerprint request from Vancouver office. Completed the fingerprints yesterday through Commissionaires.
Hi

which address were you required to send the fingerprints from the Vancouver office?
