I called IRCC today. Agent said my security is not started yet. and I asked when did they check my application last time. and then agent said June 6, last week. that means GU June 6? or not?

I think it starts and it gets done within 2 weeks in most cases I might be wrong though..

Background verification consists of criminality and security check. Even if your criminality has passed and security hasn't started, your background check will count as 'in process'. My security apparently hadn't started until last week sometime, and I am AR January 2018, so you probably have another 5-6 months to wait if they stick to the 19 month processing time.
