no AOR happens BEFORE SA, if your visa office sends an AOR2, then THAT will happen after SA.

go here for a list of the acronyms:

First comes the AoR (acknowledge of receipt) and then, SA (sponsor approval).
They are working on 22-24 january.

I just called CIC. I sent them my form on the 16th of March, there is still no confirmation that they have received it ( I e-mailed to them as that is what they asked me to do)

Do you think I should send another copy of the form to them? Like post it to them? The agent told me to call again NEXT MONTH!!! I can't sit around for that long not knowing whats going on? Or maybe I should wait til next week? I CANNOT WAIT another month!!! :-\

Did you send it via courier?

Yupyyy... just received SA this morning (March 26) after receiving AOR on March 25!!! Our application was received by CIC on January 23.
Good luck to all with your applications!

Congrats teodorix!

It does get a little frustrating when some people receive AOR then SA really quickly. In my case, we received AOR last Friday the 20th and so far no SA (January 19th application). I'm not worried yet because according to the spreadsheet the average from receipt of application to SA is running around 67 days (65-70) , some less some more of course. I'm hoping that we will receive SA by this weekend. If not i think my stress level will go up a bit. It is interesting that some people seem to get processed very quickly and others not, even though you believe your application is cut and dried easy lol, I know there are many variables. Patience is a virtue they say... though it's hard at times when there is so much in the balance.

Wishing success and quick applications to all!

My package for spousal sponsorship was received January 13. I tried phoning today but wasn't able to talk to anyone. Is there a website that I can register for to find out the status of my application? When I phoned it was asking me to have an application number ready in the list of options but I don't ever recall getting an application number. The only thing I have at home to check my status is my receipt number. If someone could guide me in the right direction that'd be greatly appreciated because I registered through MyCIC and I feel as this is not the correct way to go about finding the status of my application.

Click option 2 on the prompt that states to change your address instead of option one which is what you selected once you select option 2 and hear the robotic lady talk press 0 and you will be transferred to an agent

i checked my status by entering my receipt number since CIC status of applications was updated to processing January 19 applications. Received the following message after filling out information:
"We were not able to identify you using the information you provided. There could be three possible reasons:"

Just got SA!!

Never got AOR...

EDIT: Updated my timeline, please update color on protected first columns. ECAS has not been updated yet.

How did you receive it? :(. I seriously dont even know how i will be able to deal with mine. Please help me..

So I checked our ECAS today and it came up as Decision Made in SA field. And when I clicked on it, the message came up like this:
"1. We received your application to sponsor Awesome Husband on January 13, 2015.
2.We sent you a letter on March 24, 2015 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

It appears we received (hopefully) our SA on the 24th of March (7 days after AOR), but it was sent by regular mail instead of E-mail. What the hell CIC, what happened to the 21st century innovative mailing system that we asked for our correspondence.

I am a New Delhi, India resident and have been sponsored by my husband lately. He forwarded my application on January 16. I think they might have recieved it on January 19. The site says they are already working on the applications recieved on the same date.

To check the status of the application, whose information should be provided there, the sponser's or the applicant's?

It's a humble request to all the seniors and experienced ones to help me with my concerns, since me and my husband, both of us are worried a lot about our case.

Have you got the AOR yet? An e-mail they send out that your application has been received by the CIC. If not, then there isn't anything you can do to check for now. Just give it another week, you will get your AOR very soon.

What does AOR stand for? Is my husband gonna recieve it or me?
