Hi Guys

I am new to this thread I am very tensed and confused if some one couyld help me.

I am a PR in Canada and I applied the file for my wife and she is from India.

I applied file on April 27 and it was received on April 29 and then I received file no in 3 weeks. But after that I have not received any communication from CIC. When I call them they say that you will get notification before November. They have not send any communication that there is any document missing or something like that. I am standing in nomans land so as what to do can someone help me?

Thanks

Have you tried checking your status online?

I am in the same boat. I got SA in June but there has been no communication about my husband's file. I do check our status on ECAS often.

You can call and ask for an update from cic missisauga by confirming whether your file has been forwarded to your specific visa office and when was it forwarded.. from there maybe you can email your VO ask about any progress of your application.. we did that.

Our file still has my husbands part as "In Progress" since the end of last month. We had the FBI check missing and it came in the mail today so we will forward that on but so far they haven't contacted me since they said I was accepted as a sponsor and I am pretty sure that is good news. It seems as far as CIC is concerned the less you hear the better, I can't say for certain but my understanding is they contact you if there are problems and if not they're just working their way through the paper work so far without an issue. So for all the US applicants freaking out, it's too early to freak out about it if you applied in April, come Winter it's time to see what is up but it could still be fine, the whole process can take 12 months with more straight forward applications going through in 6 months. Expect to hear something in the next couple months I think according to the information I have gathered on this site. Of course if you wanna check in and see what is up by all means I just mean don't feel hopeless or helpless, try not to worry so much. I know it's freaking hard as hell we've been freaking out about expiring medical and the 4 month wait on FBI background checks but soon enough our loved ones will be there with us.

Hi
Finally i hear back from them and they are asking for the passport ...:)
since they transferred the file to Sao Paulo in end of Jun, i did not hear from them,,,, yesterday i sent the visa office an inquiery regarding if i can get an update and today they reply back to me asking for the passport :

Dear Sir/Madam,

This e-mail is in reference to your permanent resident application, file number above.

Please be informed that we are ready to finalize this case. Would you kindly forward us the passport?

The permanent resident visa has the same validity period as the medical results, that is, 12 months from the date of the first examination, or according to the validity of the applicant's passport or any accompanying family member’s passport, whichever is the earliest.

When forwarding the passport, please attach a letter confirming to which address we should send the passport to. If this address is not in Brazil, please be advised that this Consulate cannot cover the costs of sending a passport abroad. In that case, if you or applicant have a courrier account, kindly inform us the number, so that we can forward the passports to the mailing address, collect.

Hi Sugeee - did the visa office give you an update on your file?
I thought most of the visa offices tell you nothing

Some people do get fast responses from their VO via email. Some never hear a thing, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try. Email all your information (app #, UCI, name).

Yes, they did. Manila vo responded to my request for an update. I actually asked if they received my file and if there is any progress. They confirmed receiving my file and even mention when was my file beinb transferred. Days later, they emailed me requesting for my passport, appendix a, advisory on marriages and photos.
