My husband is the sponsor, he got the email like the following:

This refers to the Application to sponsor a member of the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in
Canada Class you submitted to this office on behalf of XXX and family (if applicable).

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The Application for Permanent
Residence will be processed separately and the applicant will hear from this office shortly.

Yep, I triple checked, the DM letter is address to me with my name and address correctly put and my UCI number as they stated on the email for CSQ request.

So should be all good?

Yes then it is all good, what you have is the Decision Made Letter. (There is nothing to worry about). Just wait now for the landing date!!!

Below Is How A Decision Made Letter Starts:

This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Montreal CIC will contact you concerning your permanent resident status.

Please note: At the time of your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will be required to present the original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration Centre. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your passport or identity documents.

Btw if you check E-Cas (you don't need to) but if you did want to just to ease your mind, it may not have it shown as complete. They usually only update E-Cas on a Tuesday.

The Call Centre would though see it as complete on their system.

Unfortunately, it was submitted in haste and with very little research. We did not include a medical exam or a police certificate. I'm trying to figure out if I should have them done and ready on hand so I can just mail them off when requested by CIC. Does anyone know how soon I should expect the request to come? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dec.04, 2012: Application received at CPC Vegreville
Jan. 21, 2013: AOR email received (e-cas shows application started processing Jan. 20, 2013)
Feb. 11, 2013: MICC and Undertaking email received
Feb. 20, 2013: CSQ application received
March 20, 2013: CSQ issued
March 25, 2013: CSQ received (postal)

The answer to your question is, yes do them and have them waiting.

You will get the request for medical and police certificate very soon. The next step is the Approval In Principle (AIP) being issued. You recieve the requests for the medical and police certificate at the same time the AIP is issued. (Almost every other person on the Quebec spreadsheet got their AIP around 22 - 28 days after they got their CSQ).

I would advise for you to get the medical and police certificate done straight away. The medical, you should be able to get an appointment within a few days, so you have a bit of time for that. The police certificate though, it does take some time to be processed. I would get working on the police certificate. (For the police certificate, you need one for every country you have lived for more than 6 months - not including Canada). You don't need to do the Canadian one as they do that as part of the process.

I will also get you added to the Quebec Spreadsheet.

My wife just got the email for DM!! hurray But if it's written "A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be made at that time." does it mean that it could be a rejection? Does anyone know?

Does it say the below: If so it is the Decision Made and there is no problem.

It is just saying about the CIC contacting you about the landing.

I had another question. My current US passport is due to expire this year. I was planning on having it renewed after I get the finger printing and medical exam taken care it. After I receive my new passport, how should I go about informing CIC of my new passport data? Email, fax, or postal service along with my police certificate and medical? I assume it is a requirement I keep them up to date with my travel documents?

Nope getting the fax number is like trying to climb Mount Everest, everybody goes round asking for it and end up with all sorts of numbers. I don't really get why it is so hard to get a fax number for them.

Anyway I have the fax number as I got it from the officer doing my file. I had to fax her something.

The number is: 17806032695. When you send a fax, you can't just send it like a normal fax, they will throw it in the bin.

On every page you have to write For the attention of ................ (officers initials), then UCI - ............... (Your UCI Number). The person being sponsored not the sponsors number.

You find the officers initials on the bottom of the AIP letter when you receive it.

I was stressed (husband and I moved to Northern Quebec, to an area where almost no one speaks any english, and three weeks later, he had to leave for Ontario for four and a half months), and working on my app alone or with the husband via email and skype. I didn't do the medical OR the police certificate. Now, looking back, I have NO CLUE how I missed those things.

Just did my medical earlier this week, and saw that our credit card was charged this morning for the FBI police certificate, so I'll hopefully get that next week or the week after.

I'm a relatively smart woman, but I swear, the moment my eyes fall upon anything with the letters CIC on it, my IQ drops, like, 40 points!

Hi QuebecOkie. I am also trying to adjust to the lack of English here in Montreal. It is nothing like California. My neighbors speak very little to no English. However, some do make an effort to try to communicate with me because they absolutely adore our fur-child.

My husband and I worked on the application together but honestly, he wasn't too much help. He is quite an impatient guy and hates dealing with paperwork. Would you mind if I ask how long ago you sent off your FBI documents? The website states the processing time is awfully long. I'm so glad I only need to request police clearance from one country! I can't imagine all the extra work involved if I was a globe trotter in the past.

Welcome to this forum!

My husband lived in the US for almost five years and so had to request a certificate from the FBI. It took slightly less than six weeks to get.

On Sept. 23, 2012, I called the FBI because we had had trouble with a credit card. They told me that it took four weeks to start processing and six weeks to finish processing, on average.
