For my CSQ they did not ask anything financial, actually getting my CSQ took 2 weeks after I sent my request and it was very simple.
Yeah, same here.
I didn't include any financial information at all.
Getting the CSQ/undertaking approval was very simple :)

i kind of worry sometimes, because we have been together since 2010 and we don't have logs from skype and things like that. i see a lot of people send it. i mostly sent letters from friends, emails sent to each (make travel plans) and when we were apart... and pictures mostlly... us in weddings, with friends from school (where we met), pictures from school time to now.. my birthday... on top of joint accounts, letters for the two of us, lease on our names and everything... i think i sent enough and i can't think of anything else we could have sent. i don't an interview, because my partner is horrible remember things. ;D
Oh and I forgot to add to the last post, we also sent out about 70 pictures of us.

Our application was quite small in size compared to that of others that I have seen on this forum. I was quite confident that we had more than sufficient evidence, however I did start to worry when I read that some applicants sent boxes of evidence (yes, boxes, you read correct). I'm sure that at some point, the visa officer just goes for quality over quantity. In fact, I'm sure that they don't read through those hundreds of pages of chat logs that some people send.

I too do not know what else we could add if ever we were requested to provide additional information.

My boyfriend is also terrible at remembering things which is why we're also hoping to get the interview waived. (On good days, he might remember his age and year of birth correctly ;))

Good Luck! :)
Same old annoying thing happened. I tried for 2 hours, using the French option as recommended, and ended up at the same place where the system hangs up on me.
It feels like nobody wants to talk to me. :-X

It is very frustrating. Nobody should have the right to take my money and not answer when I want to know the status of my application. If the CIC were a private company, their business would shut down ::)

Aww that really sucks.

It's weird though given that it's Friday today and they're usually easier to get a hold of on Fridays... I guess all you can is keep trying.

The thing is, even if you do get a hold of someone, I doubt that they'll be able to say much, if any anything at all, since it hasn't been too long (according to CIC) since you sent your application, you have no UCI, and needless to say, your application is still way in the expected time-frame provided by them. Anyway, good luck if you keep trying ;)

The reason I am trying to get a hold of them is that when I sent the original application in May, we did not have the FBI background yet.

At the time, it was easier to get the CIC on the line; I called them and asked if we could send the application without the FBI clearance they said to go ahead, and send the clearance when I would receive it.

we received the clearance in July and sent it on its way; since we still do not have a Client Id number, we wrote the receipt number as identification. Now, I would like to make sure that they received everything and that we are all set. I do not think it is too much to ask. :'(

Quite honestly, I am a Canadian myself and I am embarrassed by the way my country is handling the whole thing. :-[

And no, I will not keep trying, because this is too frustrating, and I do not want it to ruin my day. I will wait until I hear from them, and meanwhile hope for the best. :-\

No, I definitely agree with you. Although, I still doubt that they'll be of any help really.

Anyway, let us know how it goes whenever you do manage to speak to someone. I think I might try to call next week to just to make sure that the medical was received at some point. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

All I can say is keep trying and good luck!

did you try calling using 1 for english then 2 then 1 then 0? I always get it that way after several attempts. Also, you should be receiving a client ID number soon, so if I were you I'd wait until then to send the documents you have.

And since you mentioned it, yes, I agree with you that it's very sad and disappointing how Canada treats this situations. I have a friend who sent an application as skilled worker (doctor living in Canada for 10 years) and it has been longer than the average time. That person wrote to CPC Ottawa and the reply was: "Your application is in process. No further action is required by you
at this time.We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum."

If I understood correctly, she already sent out the documents in question.

In countries like New Zealand, applications for family class where sponsors are living outside the country will start being process as soon as 10 days. New Zealand prioritizes family applications, you receive an email from the consulate where your application is being lodged with the name and contact information of the officer dealing with your application. That's what I can family regroupment, and not CIC where you can barely speak with someone and when you do they can't answer you anything.

Oh, my bad!

Either way it's going to be heard to check without client ID. I think it's better to wait until then, and then call them to inquire.

@ Mdna:

Ok, so I called the RAMQ, and I was told that my boyfriend cannot apply for the card until AIP. I spoke to the agent for a good 10-15 minutes and I cited the parts saying to register with them upon arrival and she said that he cannot as long as he doesn't a letter from the CIC confirming that he has been approved. I even argued that it was mentioned on the MICC website to contact RAMQ right after first arriving to Quebec...

I'm sure that there must be people who have managed without it, for instance by simply presenting the CSQ and AOR but we're not really going to try because doing so implies him having to take a vacation day so that he can physically go to their offices during their opening hours.

That said though, the lady informed me that he could however register with them in a few weeks when he gets his new closed work permit (work permit that is specific to an employer with positive LMO) without having to wait for AIP.

I am from Quebec but I did an outland sponsorship. CIC in july-august were horrible, I could not get through even if I chose french or english.

As for receiving my client #, i send my application january17th 2012, and receive their letter april 2nd 2012. I almost lost it the week before receiving the letter when 1 agent told me that my file had been lost, that i had to resend it again with no promise to be process in urgent mode... I cry so much that day! It is all frustrating, and i know it is not the waiting, just the no answer at all...

I receive my first letter april 2nd 2012
Got the csq may 1st 2012
Got a change in ecas on july 24th 2012 from application received to in process
Received email august 7th 2012 asking photocopy of passeport

As you can see, that all the communication that I got from cic during that 7 months process

Good luck to all of you.

Exactly what I had been told, so as long as a "Permanent" residency applicant has not yet received AIP, he has no rights to RAMQ which is simply ridiculous because it means like in our case that the sponsor has to pay for private insurance for his immigrant wife (she has no right to work...), while temporary resident with LMO get it immediatly...that goes against common sense...but well. I will try for sure claim these stupid cost on our tax report next year that you can bet...

Not to argue with you, but there really is no such thing as common sense, especially when it comes to governmental entities that have no desire to be helpful but who simply follow their rules. ;)

That said, from a monetary point of a view, it does kind of make sense because a permanent residency applicant, who is not allowed to work or anything and really is here like a visitor more than anything, is technically not "contributing" to society and thus as a foreigner, should not really be benefited from the sames services as residents and citizens, at least in my opinion. It's a little different for skilled workers who have a closed permit because they are only allowed to work for 1 employer (the employer who is "sponsoring" them in a way) in order for their permit to be valid, and thus they are guaranteed to pay taxes just like everyone else. However, this does get kind of unfair in the sense that there are very high chances that your wife's previous salaries from Germany got taxes here even if she earned them while she was back home, and thus she has "contributed" in a sense but again, no such thing as common sense...

Oh, and I think that you will be able to claim some of it back, so in the meantime, I hope that her medical expenses are not too much ;)
