mustafasst said:Hello all,
I want to share with you our landing experience in Ottawa that accrued on April 2-2013.
After stamping our passports and collecting our bags, we where asked to go to the Immigration section at the airport, there where some people from the same flight waiting on line , so we had to wait for our turn to come.
After we where welcomed to Canada by one of the visas officers, he asked us to give him the papers that where sent to us along with the passports from Warsaw. He saw the photos that are on the papers and said that there is no need for new ones.
After confirming the information in the papers , we signed them and he attached the "confirmation of landing paper" on the passports and told us that the PRC will be ready within 30 days and will be sent to our mailing address.
He asked us how much money we have, without the need to show them.
After that we went directly to the costumes and gave our list of goods to follow and goods we carry inside our bags.
The 2 copies of lists where stamped, one copy was kept with the costumes officer and the other copy given to us.
We where given a paper confirming the amount of money we have with us just in case when we deposit the money at the bank, they may ask for a customs declaration form. which turned later on that is important.
Our bags where not opened or checked, he just asked us if we are carrying any items like food, weapons, or drugs etc...
The second day we went to “Service Canada” and applied for the SIN which took about 20min. the SIN card will be sent after 2 weeks to our mailing address.
Tomorrow we will apply for health insurance.
The weather is very cold, windy; temperatures are below zero, there is snow on some areas here and there.
I have to mention that this is not our first time in Canada; it is the 5th since our son is a student here in the university and we are also familiar with the place.
The landing experience was in general very nice and Canada really worth's all the waiting.
Hope all the best for all of you and wish you a happy landing very soon!
