Hi everyone!

I'd would like to inquire about international students' working hours. I've never worked more than 20 hours each week, yet on my bi-weekly pay stub, it sometimes shows I worked 42 hours in the previous two weeks, then the next week it says I only worked 28 hours. This is because my manager and I defined a week as Monday through Sunday, but the dates HR uses to compute payroll change from time to time (sometimes it from Wednesday to next Wednesday or Friday to Friday). For example: from the period of 2/16 - 2/28, it showed that i worked 42 hours but it was actually 16 hours from the week of 2/13-2/19 (i worked on the weekend), then 18 hours from the week of 2/20-2/26, then 8 hours on the first 2 days of the week of 2/27-3/5.

I'm wondering if this will have an impact on my PGWP in the future, and if it does, can I get any kind of confirmation or papers from my employer stating that I've never worked more than 20 hours per week as proof? And would it help my case?

This should not be a problem. Make sure you do not contravene the regulation to work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

As long as your definition of a what days make up a work week remains consistent you will be fine
