We've applied for a Student Family Visa. Here's our application timeline:

• Lodged on December 30
• Biometrics Completed: January 03, 2024
• Medical Completed: January 05, 2024

Since then, there have been no updates. The tracker indicates that the background check is in progress, but the RE has not yet started. I'm feeling quite nervous due to recent changes in the law. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

You are within normal processing times so no issues. All you can do is wait.

Yes, upon checking, the processing time is 9 weeks. Anyway, are you also applying for a student visa?

No. Is it just you or other family members? If spouse is applying for OWP then that may be processed separately.

Ok. Fingers crossed all applications are processed at the same time. Many times they are not.
