1. cap reached
2. initial review
3. initial processing
4. no record found

No wonder CIC has so many backlog cases every year. I admit handling immigration is a serious and time consuming process.

but CIC 's respond far beyond our reason thinking. Any immigration consultant, previously CIC officer, could provide us a direction ?

I dont think anyone can give a reasonable explanation to the responses we are seeing from CIC - Initially, we heard they were responding to status updates as 'Cap reached' , then we also have examples of 'Initial review' or 'Initial Processing' or 'No record of submission'. You are the first to report a combination of the two - File cannot be located AND it could be a result of initial processing .
That would make me think if the usage of 'initial processing' means they havent opened the application pack yet ? but how would that be possible if they could trace an application even without opening the pack??

Sorry I couldnt give a good enough reason as none but the officials will know the inside story.

Hi there - which agent did you speak to as applications after the 8th July have been processed. I think the agent was mis informed, was it you own agent who is handling your appication? If it was then they would have no idea of knowing and would have simply made up that fact.......

Also for everyone frantically wanting to email to find out their application status its 6 WEEKS after receipt of your documents, emailing before is pointless, or else there would be no 6 week rule folks....

I sent the email to my consultant and here is his reply.

Dear Mr. XXXX,

Thank you for your email. Trust you are keep well.
Your application has been submitted. To date we have not received a File Number and Acknowledgement letter. This can take 2-4 months.
At this point it is not possible to state whether your application was accepted within the 500 cap for this occupation. We have no news as to they managed the cap and how many applications were received starting July 1, 2011. While the cap was reached on August 22, 2011, there is a remote possibility that they had received more than the required number of applications with the first few days of July. Thereafter, only when they opened these did we see the cap figure going up.
We are hopeful that your application was one of the first 500 and if so, we should receive the File Number and Acknowledgement Letter in due course.

We shall keep you updated.

Thank you.

Yours very truly,

I am really hoping it takes no more than 6 months to obtain an immigrant visa. My brother got his after 7 months. He applied last year. I am very eager to go start a new life in Canada already. But that is getting ahead of the story. I have not even received a PER yet. hehehe :P

i filed my application on the 20th of august 2011. i have a query n wud appreciate if someone can answer it for me.
as proof of relationship i submitted the copies of marriage certificate of my mother and my maternal uncle.
i submitted the high school certificate for both persons which shows the name of their father.
i submitted the university degree for both persons which again shows the name of their father.
i submitted the copy of credit card invoice n one utility bill of my uncle which shows his name n address.
my question is if these documents are enuff or birth certificates are mandatory.

whose relationship you want to show??
Whose Birth Certificate you want to submit??
Who is primary Applicant??

i am the principal applicant and the proof of relationship is of my mother and my maternal uncle.
my question is are birth certificates for both these person mandatory or not?

As my opinion,

If you are showing them as a Dependent then the answer is YES.
If it (Birth Certificate) is not in ENGLISH then you have to make an affedevit about the translation of the same.
If you have attached the notarised copy of passports (their passports) then the purpose suffices.

10:45 am. I think RKC and I are the last ones taken in so far. My credit card has already been charged, about a month ago.

Have you got PER???

Hey there, this is interesting, and he may have a point but i doubt the claim purely based on the rate that the applications were processed initially, too bigger cahnges in the numbers if you ask me. Your consultant could also have pointed out that a very high number of applications will be returned as are not complete or not correct for content - i read somewhere that the persentage returned is to be around 75-80% which is very high, shows applications being sent just for the sake of it in my opinion with people not really understanding the requirements.... this doesn't help us either for timing, it makes it worse :(

Hi richardo, your point is valid and this is actually what i also think ... because they have announced the CAP in August 22nd .. If they have reached it in the very fist days of July, then why to wait 1 month to announce. they are taking much time in processing applications and some visa offices reached July 12th while the others are still working on 8th ...

Thanks,
Emado

dear all,

My consultant has said it in a very polite way that he doesn't know whether i am in or out. yet he is saying that cap might have reached in the first few days of july i.e. as mentioned by forum members. and about people ur talking i believe will will miss our chance because of them.

i hope we make it through. i applied on 17 Jul my app reached 21 Jul i believe it very hard to be in if not i will try for australia because i believe they dont have quota system as yet. i applied via using DD how can i know about my DD status because banks here say that they have no clue wether it is encashed or not.
