Dear all Financial Auditors

A quick question. I am Chartered Accountant and currently working in audit firm in UK. My first level of application process is complete i.e., visa office allocated and i have gathered all documents and ready to submitt. I have one question related to "Application for Permanent Residence in Canada” form point 12 Education category.

Being CA, are we supposed to tick Trade/apprenticeship category? I have got one certificate from my Institute which clearly mentions that CA qualification is equivalent to Masters of Commerce in my home country. I am slightly confused which box to tick (trade/apprentice or Master's degree). Need guidance.

Regards

Hi Justcill
You have to select Maters as CA qualification equals maters degree.
I'm also an auditor and applied under 1111. I had submitted my docs in mid of may.
Lets discuss other topicas as well. Seniors please participate with your guidance.
Keep posted.
regards,
Vaibhav

pl send your docs faster as the rules might change as reported on this site itself by david cohen. if you donot login yur case then there is a rumour that 0111 and 1111 might be out of the 38 occupations list...so speed up its very much essential... ???

Thanks Maverick.

Will ask my consultant to file my docs at the earliest.
cheers buddy.

Thanks Maverick and Vaibhav

I am done wiyth first stage (Nova Scotia). My application pack for second stage is ready (including all supporting documents ) which i will send on tuesday to London office as it is bank holiday on Monday in UK.

hi..

Even I heard that they are going to remove 1111 and 0111 cat. from the list.

Lets wait unless it is officially announced. I heard the same stories when australian immigration authorities were revising the list (month ago) and people said they will remove accountants/auditors category but that did not happen at all.

best of luck

You are right Justchill.
We should not conclude based on heard and told stories. Better we shud wait untill the NOC get revised. Moreover as our applications have already been accepted for eleigibility, we might not face much of problem even if our occupation gets removed from NOC list.
All the best guys.

agree with you vaibhavvd plus it is really difficult to digest no role of financial auditors in a country where market is picking up i mean financial auditors is very specialised field. Any way lets don't use this forum for speculation. Just curious where are you based and which firm are you working?

Cheers

r u sure CA will get equivalent points as Masters. I had meeting with a few consultants and all said that I will get 20 points for Bachelor degree, no points for CA.

And Have you sent transcripts for CA too...?

Hi Auditor

The reason why i am so sure is because the UK NARIC (official authority of UK which evaluates foreign credentials) considers CA equivalent to Master's degree. Plus i also got a letter from my Institute which mentioned very clearly the structure of CA (it slightly differ from one country to other and Canadian immigration authorities consider everyone differently provided you draw their attention in cover letter). As an example, in some countries the length of graduation degree is 2-4 years so immigration authorities give you marks depending on country of study and graduation marks for everyone differ.

The letter issued to me from my institute clearly mentioned that i completed 2 years of full time study before compulsory training of 4 years (in most countries training is 3 years & i think in Canada it is 5 years (not 100% sure) but this was the main difference in terms of claiming point) and in the last 2 years of my training, i also appeared in final 2 parts. I have full backing from my institute should the immigration authorities wish to discussed anything further. I also had graduation degree so i claimed maximum marks under education.

They don’t have same yardstick so if you believe; you are different, present your case with supporting documents and provide direct/independent references (like your institute etc.)

Other day, I was reading one post where the candidate was refused and he sent a letter to Canadian immigration minster and prime minster explaining the situation in detail and got positive response.

Cheers
