Hi Friends,

I started my job as a Cost Accountant in Saudi Arabia in 2011 at this company and I am still working there.

I was assigned to a prestigious project which ended in July 2014. Since then I have taken several vacations of 6 long months. First 6 months vacation I took was right after the project. I came back to Saudia Arabia after 6 months. Then took second 6 months vacation within few weeks. Third 6 months vacation followed within a couple of months and fourth after I stayed in Saudi Arabia for about 8 months. I came back for the fourth vacation and it's been 4 months now.

Basically, after 2014 till date, I have taken 4 long vacations of 6 months each and I am wondering if the clause which says something as continuous work in last 12 months/ 1 year is still relevant/ existent as a requirement? Am I still eligible to apply or do I have to wait till I complete another 8 months to meet the requirement?

Your kind responses will be appreciated!

Also, I am 34 now. I'll turn 35 in May 2018. Will the CRS have an impact due to my age even if I enter the pool now?

If your work experience from 2011-2014 was continuous then yes, you meet the EE eligibility. Once you receive an ITA, both your IELTS score and age are frozen. But sadly until then, your age can affect your CRS score.
Eg: Since your 34 yrs old now, you have currently 75 age-related points in your total CRS. This will drop to 70 age-related points after your birthday on May 2018.

Hope you receive an ITA at the earliest. Good luck.

I was about to say exactly the same as those by Raz0r. You will pass the minimum eligibility hurdle as long as your experience from 2011 to 2014 was continuous, full time and belonging to a NOC 0/A/B category. That said you will still need to supply detailed employment reference to support it. I am not sure about how to calculate your experience from 2014 onwards though. It's quite odd to still claim it was a full time while you were allowed to take 6-month vacation each year.

That's what I was wondering. I have been on a vacation since 2014 with several months at work.

As per my understanding anybody who looks at my passport can understand that I have been out of my work place with the exit and re-entry stamps only.

Is it advisable that I just don't show those stamps to CIC?

Will they by any means be able to check if have travelled out of the country I work in?

Yes, it is advisable to withhold information if you are looking to get banned for misrepresentation.

Okay Del!

I don't think after spending a good amount of money one would look forward to getting banned for misinterpretation.

Your answer would be appreciated if you can provide me with the solution to my problem.

Maybe you could share with us why your job allowed you to take these long vacations? It was not normal at all unless you are self employed and work on your own schedules. Even one 6-month break already seems suspicious for you to still claim you were on a full-time employment and you have multiple in a just a few years.

My dear friend, please always have in your mind that with-holding information and misleading the CIC will have dire consequences. If your 1-year work experience was continuous and you were paid for the entire 12-months, then I do not see any issue with your EE eligibility. Good luck.

Note: During your vacations, were you being paid or not??
Example: You were working for 6-months straight, then you took a 6-month vacation. So were you paid for 6-months alone or were you paid for the entire 12-months (6-months when you worked, 6-months when you were on vacation)??

Basically, mine is a contracting company which also has a (limited) manpower supply department and I am apart of it. This gives me the liberty to take as long and as many breaks as I wish. I get paid only when I am assigned to a project and my company makes profit from my assignment. I am not paid when I am not assigned to any project.

What are my chances of entering the pool?

I have continous experience from 2011 to 2014 and it was paid of course. The reason why I'm worried is that this experience is not recent. There are 3 messy years which followed and all my long vacations are unpaid.

Since you say that from 2011-14 you have continuous work experience and it was paid, then you are eligible for the EE program. You can create a profile and enter the EE pool. The current CRS cut-off is hoovering over ~435. Good luck.
