If you are expecting PPR soon then don't renew your passport now. If you still have time for PPR then get it renewed and once you get the new passport send a copy of that via email informing CIC of the change. You can then send your new passport once you get PPR.

I also got the RPRF request today. Will be paying it soon. I have a new passport. Should I just send across a scanned copy of it or do i need to send a physical notarized copy via post.

I got mine just yesterday. But I'm in the US and the process is outsourced to BLS. Not sure about the process in Canada. Mine took exactly 10 days from the day the application left me to the day I got the new passport. ETA given online was 3-4 weeks so I was pleasently surprised. :)
