Do I NEED to work to apply for my spouse?

My situation is somewhat different, I'm a homemaker, but I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my husband. What I was told is that I don't need to work but I need to show any savings we have as well as have letters from my family who have agreed to let us stay with them indefinitely.

Question about child's certificate of citizenship

My husband was born in the US, I was born in Canada. We are trying to get his package together to immigrate to Canada. We have a child together who was born in the US and has a US passport. We were told by a notary in Oregon, USA that nowhere in the state is allowed to photocopy birth...

Questions about husband working in Canada

Oh thank you so much! This makes me feel so much better. I read on the CIC website some obscenely long processing times. We have a daughter who was born in the US so I'm assuming we need to also apply for her certificate of citizenship before we apply for his PR visa?

Questions about husband working in Canada

Originally, we were planning on applying this past January but our plans changed and hope to apply January 2015. I am a Canadian citizen, born in Ontario, but have been living in the US as a PR since 2011. In the US I was given a temporary work permit while my PR application was processed. Are...

Sorry, another question! Is it possible for us to "visit" and apply while in Canada? And if so, would we then stay there until approved?

    Sponsoring American Husband?

Okay, thank you! I know I probably sound very naive about all of this so I'm trying to learn about the whole process. So, we should apply ASAP I guess since it takes so long. Thank you all again!

    Sponsoring American Husband?

I'm sorry for all the questions and I'm sorry if they're really dumb! I'm trying to read all the info on the CIC site but it's confusing. Would we need to stay in the US the whole time after applying or would we be able to move up to Canada right away if we have a place to stay lined up?

    Sponsoring American Husband?

Sorry for another question. How long does it usually take to process and get approved for a spouse visa if we apply out of Canada? We've been married for 2.5 years and never lived apart. I know times can vary but I was just hoping for an estimation. Thanks!
