    February Applicants Join here!!!

Looks like Raatri filed the initial application in 2008 so this doesn't apply.

I also included a LOT of photos. I'm talking 200. In hindsight, probably too many, but we mainly did it because we decided not to include any emails/chat logs/texts and we spent a lot of our time as a couple travelling about. We had one year of continuous co-habitation at the time of applying...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Hello!! The police certs are a pain in the hole, aren't they! Here's how to get one from the UK (see FAQ #5): http://www.met.police.uk/information/faq.htm#q5 **EDIT** I've just noticed that the link provide there doesn't actually work -- try ringing the police certificates desk directly...

Yeah, we were going to do this but I think decided to ONLY do it if we thought it was absolutely needed. We would have been prepared to offer this if they asked for additional evidence. Talk about 'ask at your own risk' type situation!

Some people get theirs via post, others via email. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it (perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this one!). Seems to vary greatly, even within the same visa offices. We got our sponsor approval via email. No AOR for us, though.

    Question on sending application

Ah, you're totally right! A courier could take care of the problem for the OP! :)

The January spreadsheet indicates that sponsor ship approval is currently taking between 40 and 50 days. Check it out here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmxynnoT1qeadGJZWUlfekZUbm9YTVJuVzNFejU3eGc#gid=0

    Question on sending application

Hi, I think you can send a box. I have no idea how ours were sent, but when speaking to our lawyer, I asked if we had too much stuff (photos etc.). She told us no, and that she had just recently, for the case before ours, sent off a big box of photos and documents. When describing the size, she...

This depends on which office you applied through. For example, I know people applying through London, UK do not receive AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) but those applying through Buffalo do. Certainly the first we heard of anything was when we were approved for sponsorship. We were then able to...

    Is Using a Lawyer Advised?

I wouldn't advise it unless your case is very complicated. We were lucky in that our lawyer didn't require us to fill out all of the forms but that was about it. It cost a fortune, and they made several mistakes. Nothing major, and certainly not anything that would directly affect the validity...

checking the status of our application

We didn't get a notification of receipt of our file from CIC Mississauga until we got approved for sponsorship. At this point they emailed us and said my spouse had been approved as a sponsor and gave us all the information (file number, Unique Client ID, etc) to check the status online using...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Okay, so I decided today to send an email to London to ask where my visa/rejection letter had gotten to! Before sending the email, I did a little bit of snooping, because I knew Victorfoxtrot had sent an email to them too after sitting on Decision Made for a little while. She said she had sent...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

We emailed him to ask if he'd gotten anything and he said no, not yet and that he would let us know as soon as something from CIC arrived. He said if they need more forms (?!?!) they will contact via email, but if they're issuing the visa, it will be by post and can take from 10 days to four...

Common Law - 1 year living together but have to leave country

I would be inclined to agree with those that say leaving for the period of the application (less than six months seems to be the norm at the moment) will be totally fine. I don't even know would you have to mention it. I'm assuming you don't for two main reasons: 1) You will be applying outland...

Ahhh! Best news! So glad you're finally sorted. What a stupidly long wait. Now it's time for landing and OHIP. Hurraay! It's been almost a week since we got decision made. Wondering if I should poke our lawyer and ask him to contact them. How soon is too soon?
