Waiting on LMO/LMIA...share your timelines here and get through the wait

Well, both applications for the LMO and the work permit extension have been sent out at the same time. Hence, my work permit application is pending and should be approved/rejected once the LMO decision is made. It's driving me nuts.

Waiting on LMO/LMIA...share your timelines here and get through the wait

It's great to know that I'm not the only one waiting. I was already convinced that there must be something wrong with my file. On the CIC homepage it says that the work permit only takes 48 days from inside Canada. I find that rather misleading since it is the LMO which is taking so long. No...

Current LMO Processing Times (June 2014)

Unfortunately I can't find any chart online that states the average processing time for LMOs. My question would be: Does it make any difference if the person is already employed by the company? Does it depend on the province? I live and work in Québec. I initially started working for my...

    QSW 2013 APPLICANTS,LETS NETWORK N SHARE TIMELINES!

That was the plan. Obviously you need to notify them of the change of classes, including an attestation from your employer, as well and the first and the last two paychecks you received. It's not like they don't have anything to do at the office and have people browsing through the massive piles...

    QSW 2013 APPLICANTS,LETS NETWORK N SHARE TIMELINES!

I scored C1, so in terms of French there should be no issue. My current job in linguistics is considered to be skill level B, so that works out as well. Since my initial application has been filed 7 months ago, I'm hoping that they'll move my file to the front of the queue and issue my CSQ...

    QSW 2013 APPLICANTS,LETS NETWORK N SHARE TIMELINES!

On August 14th, I will have worked here for exactly one year. Therefore I was planning to change from the QSW program to the PEQ program, since it is said to be a lot faster. Does anyone have experience with that?

Quebec CSQ Application - Regular program – Temporary worker

Yes, you will still need to get the necessary points. I applied for the Skilled Worker Program since I have a nursing degree and nurses are in high demand here. However, if you are planning to stay here, I would strongly advise you to immigrate via the Quebec Experience Program since it is a...

Quebec CSQ Application - Regular program – Temporary worker

Hey there, No, unfortunately you can't. I've been in almost the same situation. I arrived here in June 2013 (Working Holiday visa). The year of employment has to be completed by the time you apply. Hence, you have three options: 1. Your employer offers you a contract extension and applies...

Canada Work Permit Visa - New Policies - Rejections??

My application for an extension has been sent out on June 9th. I have been asked to meet with HR today. They told me that all the other applications of my international co-workers have been refused after 60 days. It's day 55 for me now. Meaning, mine will be refused as well. I have to point out...

New York to Canada: 30 months?

Well, obviously it is not easy to find an employer who is willing to apply for an LMO for you. However, I have plenty of friends who did that in order to not be forced to return to their home country while their application was being processed. It took them about 6 weeks in total to obtain the...

New York to Canada: 30 months?

Sorry, I thought he might have applied from inside Canada. I am really sorry to hear that. :( Well, there is always the possibility of finding a job in Canada and applying for a temporary work permit. If his profession is on the NAFTA list, he will even be exempt from applying for an LMO.

New York to Canada: 30 months?

As an American citizen he might benefit from the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement). Maybe that works out for him. You should check out the link I posted below. http://www.borderconnections.com/nafta-visa.html

New York to Canada: 30 months?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=679&t=17 If the PR application has already been submitted from inside Canada and the eligibility for PR has been confirmed, it is indeed possible. Correct me if I understood something wrong here.

New York to Canada: 30 months?

If you are a Canadian citizen, your husband is eligible for an open work permit. You don't have to wait until he gets his PR, it merely takes 3 weeks to receive the work permit from CIC and you are good to go. :)

    QSW 2013 APPLICANTS,LETS NETWORK N SHARE TIMELINES!

I just got back to Montréal and checked my AOR. It says "BIQ New York". I have been wondering why they would send my file to the States, even though I live in Montréal. Also, I am slightly concerned, since the homepage of the québécois government states that there are currently no interviews...

What's a BIQ? I never read the letter myself. I'm currently on a road trip around the east coast of Canada and my roommate gave me a call that the letter arrived and read it out loud to me on the phone. I will surely be able to give you guys more details once I get back to Montréal in two weeks...
