with your passport expiry date being 2018,your visa expires November 2017( 1year from your MR). I think u should land before it expires. you can land with your passport expiring just after you land but you will have to renew it immediately in canada.

you do not need to renew your passport if it has over 6 months validity...in your case 2018 is over 6 months ,so you are ok my friend.

Why not allow her go for the medicals first to ascertain her true medical status. No one can really tell u what to expect now but for her age there should be some considerations i think.
