Regarding police certificate, its validity acceptable by CIC is one year, unless there expiration date indicated differently... But if you were, let's say, in foreign country and you left, in this case your police certificate is valid for life... About medical certificate, you are right!

WES now changed the duration, the process is now 20 business days which means 4 weeks, if they need to research or ask anything from your school, in addition, it takes longer than expected
